Android lets you distribute APK's any way you like, you don't need to use Google Play.
Also, Google Play has apps on it which break Google's own T&C's.
Mmmm, Guess so.
At the moment there's a bit of a problem: Framerate.
When I increase to fullscreen, the framerate drops considerably.
Any suggestions?
In response to the huge FPS issue when the viewport is increased to a HD tablets screen resolution, I have figured out a solution.
Thanks to Harry, I have decided to migrate all of the rendering of models over to the graphics card through a handy little feature of Android called RenderScript.
This will allow me to keep the game cycle in-tact, whilst making most of the rendering take part on either unused CPU cores or GPU cores. This means that it's not all bundled into the main thread, which will increase fps significantly.
The project will soon be going open source. The only thing I request is that the people who use it don't add ridiculous stuff to it, such as modern maps. The loading method of maps has already been optimized for low-power tablets, and replacing it with the default will ruin this.
PS: The UI will be notably different from the gameframe style. Instead, it will be more like fullscreen RS except with the tabs vertical down the right instead of horizontal.
I could easily design a user interface / HUD / Gameframe that would allow a good level of gameplay through a mobile app with such limited screen space. I'm sure Jagex could to.
Remote access through a phone is hardly a way of proving whether Runescape would work on a mobile or not.
do you realize, your taking a step further in advance in the history of RS-PS?
This is.. very impressive.
Haven't ever seen this. Really nice, respect !
I'm just amazed that nobodies tried doing it / gotten this far before xD
