Sooo... it's been a while. Well, some time ago, I started providing my services to "Norse", an OSRS project with inoffensive custom additions that mostly revolve around its namesake's mythology.
Got some catching up to do; this one is from August. One good look and you might immediately recognize Odin if you're familiar with the mythos.
Spoiler for Pieces:Spoiler for Reference:
By the way, as of now I am open to requests. If you've got any ideas that you might want to see me depict in the likeness of OSRS, now is the time.
Sick work man, models looks nice
Awesome looking models bud!
wb and neat stuff, as for requests hummm.... maybe a few game of thrones inspired items? there's lots of good options to choose from tbh and im sure people would be interested in them.
unsullied set
catspaw dagger
Longclaw
joffrey's crossbow
or any of the MANY MANY things from the books like:
blackfyre
dawn
lightbringer
the crystal crown
the seven pointed staff
rhaegar targaryen's armor
robert baratheon's armor and 2 handed war hammer
faith militant knight armor
just to name a handful....
I've thought alot about making those armours, especially the lanister ones. The only big issues though is how you would get all those small ornate details, which honestly, makes up 80 percent of the armours beauty(should you take it off you're left with a rather simple and standard armour set). You could add them in if you took the time and did it carefully but It would look quite bad in lower rev with the high polycount. I guess you could try having it textured on there but again, will not look great on lower revs regardless. It seems to be a task for a higher revision which idk if maximax does / likes
the unsullied armor is a standard armor set that would imo work pretty well in os rev tho =) their standard armor isn't that ornate really only the generals armor is usually really elaborate. like jaime lannister's armor is just the same armor as his troops but with more coverage and the detailing entirely gold plated with a lion shaped helmet and lion faced pauldrons with each edge in the plate mail trimmed in gold and the helmet is book only. robert baratheon's was a standard full plate set with a sigil tabard and he had a big ass hammer with a spike on the back and a helmet with gigantic elk horns. rhaegar's would be pretty hard tbh tho it had spines all over it that resembled dragons wings it was entirely black except for a ruby encrusted targaryen sigil and the hemet was a dragons head with wings on the sides of it, given its black it would take a lot of work to get the color detail right so you can actually see everything. the weapons aren't nearly as bad tho the majority of the detail on the swords is the unique hilts/pommels they have except for lightbringer which is on fire and dawn which has a faint glow in the blade. using references i feel most of these could be accurately represented in os tbh except maybe rhaegar's or jamies from the books
Amazing work, Maxi.
I've had a look at GoT before, IMO it doesn't lend itself to being imitated in RS as well as you'd think despite the matching medieval settings. It's tricky to explain, but GoT designs don't have quite the right balance of prominence, complexity and spread of individual features. To address a few, the Faith Militant outfit lack complexity too badly and relies on ambiance to look good, most of the weapons you brought up feature heavily concentrated detail which would need to be simplified and exaggerated, Rhaegar's armor, regardless of the depiction you go with, features tightly stacked plates (which are more of a post-EoC design trope) and likely demands some texturing.
I'm not looking to scratch my head over the creative liberties I may or may not have to take, but we'll see in due time.
