Thread: Creating custom items

Recoloring an already existing item is different from adding a completely custom item. If you’re looking to recolor an item that already exists, you’ll need to define it within your item definitions, as well as add its configuration to the server. Adding a custom item will require little cache work, as you will need to pack the model through index repacking or a cache editing tool. You’d then proceed to do everything listed for an item that already exists.

It was just an example, all items are handled within an Item index within the cache, so I was wondering how I can add new items to this index.

extend the index and then pack new items after 65535 to avoid overwriting any existing, recolors are more simple as someone mentioned just edit the definitions using code in the client and create a new case for the item if you want to keep the old color as well.

I'm using a runelite client and it only contains an ItemDefinition interface file which doesn't contain a function that loads items in that sense

Sorry but won’t this (Index extension) slow the client’s performance? Also seems unnecessary as OSRS items don’t exceed 30,000...

OP: Packing seems your best route.

repackCacheIndex

If you don’t have this repacking method, either implement it from [Only registered and activated users can see links. ] or use a cache editing tool like [Only registered and activated users can see links. ] to repack the custom item into your cache.
