I have tried a variety of different methods, including galkon's method, tom's cache suite, and lin's cache suite. I know I've done everything correctly because map viewers and editors can run the maps in the cache I've packed, but when I open it up in the client I just get this

yes. they are gzipped. they load perfectly fine when packed and loaded with other map viewing software, just not the actual client. I even dumped the specific index to see if it was stored as a dat or a gz.

could it be that I'm loading in low-detail mode and I'm packing high-detail maps? I don't really know how low/high detail mode works to be honest
