My Design Journey

Hi there, glad you stopped by :).

Many people on this forum have posted their own game development journeys.
Since I don’t have the skills to develop games of my own, I do have the ability to design the visuals for it.

The goal of this journey is to create unique designs, but still have some familiarities with the game itself that we all know and love.

Those who have the ability to create their own interfaces can get inspiration from what I post on this topic :).

The custom gameframe looks pretty cool. There are some adjustments that could be done, but overall it looks good. Keep it up (y)

Ye I will definitely be changing some stuff here and there to make it more appealing, but it's a work in progress so will be posting some updates on it :).

Nice work on the interface and gameframe! One thing I'd recommend is add some more texture perhaps to the background of your chat filters, near the world map and such. Just feels a little too plain in those areas. The square orbs was a cool idea, goes well with the minimap!

Not really a fan of custom gameframe, normally, but you did it really well & I love it. Good job Herb.

Edit: I'm pretty sure you do plan to, but are you going to complete fixed & resizable mode next?

RS3 nerd checking in though, you did a good job, looks really similar to legacy interface skin. Would definitely be something someone would consider taking, I suggest you hold this close to you.

Ty bb, ye I had that in mind. I'm going to be finishing the interface first and then I'll be doing the tweaks on the gameframe itself :).

Thankyou :). I have some things in mind for resizeable mode, just need to finish this small project first before I make a start on resizeable :).

I've completed the interface itself & edited the texture of the gameframe a bit. Gameframe texture should be a bit more appealing now instead of looking plain.

There's one more interface I will be working on. After that A few little things left for the gameframe & then I will start on resizeable mode :).

Looks neat. I would size down the compass as well as the orbs to fit the special attack orb on that side and in the same style as the others to make it all more in line.

Sup lads, not a big update today, unfortunately. But it's a start on something big :).

I've come up with a new idea of having dialogues in Runescape. It has some sort of cinematic style to it, will need some more work but it's an idea.
We're all used to the standard "head" on the side of the chatbox:

My idea was to include the entire NPC & its surroundings. This could easily fit with resizeable mode due to not having a game frame like fixed mode. I guess I'll have to do some thinking on how this could fit fixedmode as well. The dialogue is fullscreen. The angle is really off but imagine being in first person and talking to the npc.

Most of you have probably seen the Trailblazer league on 07. I saw an image that really caught my attention:

I was talking to Zombie on discord and we came up with the idea to turn something like that into an actual teleport interface. Clicking on one of those locations "zooms" you in and shows the different teleports etc.
I've made some progress on it but it's not even close to being finished, but I thought might as well bring you lads into the progress :p.

Hey lads, back with a new interface :yay:.

I decided to change the thread to make it a journey that all of us can follow. The reason for this is mentioned in the thread itself.

I was previously working on a teleport interface, I couldn't figure out how I wanted it to actually work so I decided to shelve it for now.
I will come back to it when I think of something but for now, I will try to get some other stuff done.

I've been working on a shop interface which is quite different but it turned out pretty nicely if I have to say so myself.

On the top right, I've added placeholders for regular coins & blood money. Not really sure how they could work together but I thought it looked quite cool.

Hi lads, first of all Happy new years! Hope it'll be a healthy year for all of us.

It has been a while since I posted on this thread, decided to put another interface together :D.

It's not finished yet, it's very limited mode wise, but this is the first thing I could come up with.
I've also been working on the minimap, it's still a work in progress but I felt this looked pretty decent. (Credits to Karan for the idea)

Been working on a Quest Log interface, saw an MMORPG with an interface like this, and I decided to put my own touches on it.

i like this style alot more than your older styles! great improvement! but it definitely needs some sort of definition between each panel. having no borders makes it seem busy and confusing at the same time
