Thank you very much!
I created a prototype for 3D GPU terrain rendering for Rs317.Sharp in Unity3D. I plan to eventually render the entire world in 3D but I consider it a low priority since I need to start actually writing a server emulator for a 2005-era project.
If you don't want to watch a video here is an example image:
Hey guys, today I worked on porting the 317 client to android mobile. I have a video of it running on mobile too! It uses Unity3D's Android IL2CPP build target.
The other day I sunk an entire day into porting Runescape back to the web browser via Unity3D's WebGL. Unfortunately Unity3D's WebGL performance is terrible. I decided to make a video on it anyway, even though I consider it a failure.
Here is a working public test build of the Runescape 317 client running in the browser via WebGL. The password to the demo is "scape". It has taken a ton of work to get this running and only one challenge remains, replacing the traditional sockets with Websockets so that it can run from within the browser.

Very nice. Loading seems pretty slow in comparison with a normal 317 client. 2005 remakes aren't very popular and take years to make, but I'm sure you are aware of that.
Thank you =). Yes, there are some technical reasons why the loading is abit slow for now. I can dramatically increase the loading speed soon but other higher priority tasks are taking my attention.
Today I have abit of a treat! The WebGL browser version is playable now, I'm running a test server that you can login to as a demo. I've made a video about it and you can actually visit the itch.io link to play it in the browser for at least today!

Thanks HC! I appreciate the longterm support =). The WebGL test was unexpectedly exciting today! I captures some screenshots of the event, quite afew players filtered in which was great. It really shows how a web client lowers the barrier of entry for onboarding new players.
Thanks to everyone who showed up!
An interesting read for sure. Should make a project thread, would definitely follow!
