It has been over ten years and the simple fact is once these caches are gone we will never get them back. I loved this game as a kid and would like to preserve the original as much as possible. So I have created this thread in the hopes that people will collaborate and upload every Rs2 cache (194?-508?, roughly that period).

    You can help by:

Uploading the cache. Get a programmer to check the integrity. I'll maintain a list here weekly.

If you've got an old computer sitting about dig it up and check if you've got the cache and client on it still.

*I have not been around in years so no idea if another list is currently actively maintained, please point me in the direction if so.

**I have been pointed to https://www.displee.com/archive/rs2/ this is an excellent resource.

***A client archive to load these caches would be equally useful, I will maintain one of these too if there is enthusiasm.

This looks promising but it is not loading on my phone at the moment ha. Wait I got it now, this is an excellent start I will add it to the main thread and hopefully others will have other versions or will be kind enough to mirror these ones.

Great thank you. See I could not find any of this through a Google search or searching the website there's a lot of 'noise' and important data like this gets lost in it. The archive you linked is really interesting, I'm going to check out the caches and see what I can get loading on my 317 deob (I'm using the original Mopar one).

Do you know if a client archive is maintained?

If you're looking to come back into the scene, stray away from Mopar as it is severely outdated. (Unless you're doing it for fun). It's been so long, I can't recall what revision it used. (I want to say 317).

If you're looking to develop something serious, consider using a OSRS Deob. Like: RSMod, or something of the sort.

As for the Clients, they should be abundant in the community. If you search around. Some dead links here and there though.

It's an obfuscated 317 client that has been run through JAD decompiler. The moparisthebest one not the moparscape one with the car although that was badass too. My interest is the really old versions I used to play back in 06-07 rather than OSRS.

I might refractor the client myself for fun, but having as many caches and clients as possible allows me to link the games together and get a sense of continuity.

Also a side note: some caches in my archive do contain the .dat3 and .dat5 which you can use to extract the client and its libs from with: https://www.rune-server.ee/runescape...unpack200.html

    For example 508, 546, 562 (only dat3) and 569 caches.

Similarly, the .dat1, .dat4 and .dat6 files also contain the client/jaggl lib encoded in Jagex's custom class file format (which is similar to pack200, but much simpler). It was used on machines where Pack200 wasn't available.
