Whats stopping us from just making a client with the latest cache and then rewrite parts of the server that need rewriting so that , that client with all the latest stuff can be used on the server?

It's not the client that's hard, but it's the server source that's h2c.
you needa change the packages of a server and stuff. people rather wanna make model masking instead of making the newer server

Wtf... If we would have tried to just code newer back when we started to try to figure out adding new models it would be done by now. So your seriously telling me that that is why people are not doing it..

The packets need to be worked so you dont crash instantly. (atleast in the version i had) Nothing special, i had a copy on my old HDD that a friend gave me it's totally worthless

if you would like to try to make a new client connect to a server then be my guest, dont expect people to do it for you.

.... Why don't they just remake the entire server so they don't have to change the packets like they did when it first came out...

After version 377, the basically rewrote the system, and jumped it to I think 400 or 401. They made it harder then 317-377 of course, and since most people who are into runescape private servers are just average coders, and nothing more, opposed to a game such as world of war craft. Altough there are a few gifted people here who have a 400+ server, they won't release it (includes Silab)

few gifted people? i think you miss-spelled no-lifers... I tried to make a server that would accept a newer client and worked on it for about a week and only got it to where it would accept the login packet, log in, and then crash.. so i gave up and said fuq that..

as i said above what's all this 'why dont they' sh!t.. do it yourself or stop worrying about it.
