So I was thinking, Since I'm never going to get around to finishing the cache suite once and for all, I was thinking about an alternative. I'd appreciate input on this and any suggestions.
The idea:
Instead of writing an all in one application to edit the cache as it is, How about a program that just loads the cache up, exports its entire contents to easily editable files (Images to PNG, Models to 3DS etc.). You could then simply edit the files you want, and the program would repack the cache into jagex' own format
What do you think? Would you find this easier than the cache suite? Reckon I should do it?
[edit]
Begun work on the unpacker:
Get the source at [Only registered and activated users can see links. ]Unpacking cache ./cache to ./raw
Found data file main_file_cache.dat
Found index file main_file_cache.idx0
Found index file main_file_cache.idx1
Found index file main_file_cache.idx2
Found index file main_file_cache.idx3
Found index file main_file_cache.idx4
Cache contains 5 cache indices
Index 0 contains 9 files
Index 1 contains 9358 files
Index 2 contains 679 files
Index 3 contains 485 files
Index 4 contains 1246 files
Total cache file count: 11777

Awesome, do it!
