Yes. I might add that colloquial irregularities occur frequently in any language. Since you and the rest of the people that have read and will read this thread understood perfectly my intended meaning, being particular about the distinctions between "encryption" and "algorithm" is purely pedantic and arguably pretentious.
you should always encrypt your data and be as secure as possible
do you even understand what this means
anyways i agree with you that more people should attach more value to player data protection. i've seen some servers removing any form of protection purely to violate privacy
Yes, it means that I tried to write a guide to better the community. Do you want to knit-pick at me and my thread like your friend because the level of cockiness around here honestly has just gotten to the point of annoyance.

i dont speak really much with vincent so i don't think i can consider him as a true friend
we're not 'knit-picking' u on any thread though, vincent was trying to explain u the difference between hashing and encrypting which is a good thing
once again these were just small flaws and i honestly believe u did a good thing by encouraging server owners to attach more value to data protection

Well I am sorry to Vincent and yourself then, on R-S you have to be very defensive with your posts especially tutorials / snippets because everyone want's to give their two cents and try to act like they are on a higher level and give off just a general bad vibe on threads. I am trying to just keep this about security no arguments or flame :/

I really hope you are trolling now. Both hashing and encryption are algorithms btw, but they are still very different things (and both are related to crypthography, but encryption is not the same as cryptography). You really are comparing apples to oranges here, they are both fruits, but very different.

Spoiler for Tyler H, Vincent, and any other's who feel they are big men with a neg button:
I stand by the below statement, your little neg on my post for your friend is cute but it shows how incompetent you are and cannot read english like your friend.

This is not correct, he was openly trying to start something the moment he first posted with that arrogant comment:

I am comparing the term algorithm and encryption to each other because of how insignificant the use of changing what you are suggesting I change. It's like can and may, yes they are different but the point is being clearly expressed. This thread is for encouraging and providing means of encrypting (convert (information or data) into a cipher or code, especially to prevent unauthorized access.) data e.g. passwords so that they cannot be read via means of hashing the data; then comparing raw data to the hashed value stored in the players file to validate that the value is a match to the key on file. Thus successfully ENCRYPTING that data. I am not trolling, you are just trying to boast your ego on my thread where it does not need to be and I would kindly ask you to drop this small ass detail you are so bent on discussing and trying to prove that you are right and I am wrong; because that is exactly what this is, let me remind you "I really hope you are trolling now.". I tried to be nice and apologize for defending myself but I was wrong and totally in line, this is just a sad attempt to shit on my thread and I don't appreciate it one bit.
