Monologue: A couple people know I've been really interested in textures on models. I found out all that I wanted to regarding that. However, someone from here challenged me to take it further (Richie912). He asked me if particles were done in the same way as textures. I doubted it had anything to do with the model itself, I thought it was only certain item ids that had it enabled (something in Item Definitions, perhaps).
I was wrong. I took a look at some models from the 718 cache, including the Dungeoneering cape and just some random part of a fence. I had to get the feel for the 718+ model header (23 bytes as opposed to 317s' 18 bytes). This is how it turned out:
This is the model I made to test 16 different particles at a time.
As you can see, there are tons of different particles. This was only about 20 different "particle ids" (as I call them) being tested, one on each triangle. Some were so large that it was really hard to tell which came from what triangle.
I dunno, I guess it was just pretty cool. I was really proud that I figured it out (I'm no Java guru so reading the model header was a bit tough). I might even take some models from people and add particles to them at some point.
More pictures to come soon, perhaps.
This looks amazing. Good luck on future development.
Good job!
Thanks guys. I might release a tutorial on how to add them later, but for now, it's my (and Richie's) secret.
Quite nice. I need to learn how to do this.
good job!
Whoa! thats pre' sick!
That looks sick man!
