Hey everyone, I've had a lot on my plate recently and have been inactive on Rune-Server for a while now. Asgard has recently taken a massive overhaul, core aspects of the base have been thought through again and have been implemented at a slower pace. With these changes some existing content had to be put on hold as different methodologies to handle the content were being put in place. Do not worry, a lot of content has been done again and especially but not limited to, combat. We value a strong combat system mechanically functioning as it should of paramount importance to Asgard. Discord channel to find out more. As well going through an overhaul, Scoob and I have decided to load cherry-picked content from OSRS to spice up the game. We are planning to have a closed/private beta released within maybe a months time!
Combat (Melee):
- Melee has been implemented
- Damage for opponents appear when your weapon lands on the victim (e.g a chaotic maul, the damage appears as the maul lands)
- Will always find the closest adjacent tile to the victim in which you can attack them from
- You can attack your victim whilst you're chasing them as long as you're within distance
- Perfected maximum damage calculation
- Accuracy and defence calculations have been emulated as close as possible
- Special attack system currently supports all daggers, whip (abyssal tentacle too) with the correct effects and multipliers
- Instant special attacks such as dragon battleaxe are supported
- Cool down timer for melee uses the weapon's attack speed
Combat (Range):
- Darts attack from a distance of three tiles
- Knives attack from a distance of four tiles
- Chinchompas can be thrown from a distance of nine tiles
- Bows and crossbows can be used from a distance of seven tiles
- Armadyl crossbow can be used from a range of eight tiles
- Perfected ranged maximum damage calculation
- Range accuracy and defence calculations have been emulated as close as possible
- Ranged combat just like magic is able to shoot over objects which allow projectiles
- Using long range increases your attack range for two extra tiles
- Every single ranged projectile has been reworked
- So far for ranged hand cannon special has been implemented
Combat (Magic):
- A better projectile calculation has been put in place (as with range too)
- Damage for projectiles appear on land of a projectile (as with range too)
- Projectile pathfinding has been reworked entirely, magic and range now recognise obstacles which allow projectiles to be sent over them
- Your character will move to the closest tile which can send a projectile to the victim
- Single cast and auto casting has been added into place
- So far every air, water, earth and fire spell have been along with the modern book teleports
- Ancients book currently contains ice spells only and the remainder are in the works
QOL
- A very clean and robust dialogue system has been implemented
- The keyboard number keys can be used in selecting options within a dialogue
- Space bar can be used to go next in a dialogue
- The escape key will close any open widget as well as cancel a dialogue if you have one open
- When your character needs to stop moving such as you opened a widget whilst moving, your minimap flag will reset
- Scroll wheel can be used to zoom in and out however whilst a widget is open, your camera will not zoom until you close the widget
- Middle mouse scroll wheel can be used to rotate camera
- Asgard now loads OSRS content. So far I have selected ~120 items I have packed one by one ensuring all models and equipment are bug free
- Items kept on death will keep the three most valuable (based off of grand exchange value)
- Price checker system has been added
- Display name system has been added, you are able to change your name once a week
- Your friends list will update friends who have changed their names
- When changing gender, your clothing will be conserved so when you turn into a female, the female equivalent of your clothing will be used
- Shift click can be used to drop items
- Sprites are shown on the left hand side of the pane for when you are frozen, poisoned, blocked from teleporting as well as the vengeance cool down.
Misc:
- Ring of recoil functionality. Recoils have a charge of 40 inflicted hits, equipping a new recoil will not reset the hits to 40 again.
- Full character customisation using the widgets available from thessalia for clothing, yrsa for shoes and the make over mage for gender and skin colour are complete
- NPC interaction has been implemented, you are able to interact with npcs over the counter such as bankers
- When you click on objects such as the stairs in lumbridge castle, the minimap flag will adjust and reflect the tile you are moving to (like OSRS)
- Run energy calculation has been implemented, full run energy is represented by ten thousand units
- Run energy recovery depends on your agility level
- Resting has been implemented which increases the rate at which you recover energy
- When you are resting and click to move, you will stand up first then walk to the destination
- Moving cancels any widgets which have been opened (as well as dialogues)
- Music manager has been added you are able to shuffle add to playlist and the other functionalities too
