I know some of you genuinely want to help me and I'm grateful for that, but this project will never be open source. I am aware it is plagiarism and not my original ideas, but over the last 4 years I have put in so much time and effort collecting the data from OldSchool and RS3, then writing the code to implement it. I am not interested in letting other people profit off my hard work especially when they are equally unlikely to share.

Completely understandable mate, out of curiosity would you ever be down for the idea of letting us hop on and play around from time to time?

I read before you had some tests going on a while back but I missed them. Haha

Would absolutely love some sort of release where we can launch the game to play offline similar to Mige's singleplayer release. Would protect your work and let us play at the same time. No idea how or if this can be done though... just hoping.
    Spoiler for Goodbye and Goodnight!:

Right now my top priority is to complete all the quests ROTM requires as well as ROTM itself. After I finally complete that goal next year, I will look into hosting it for testing. But I'm not going to guarantee anything.

The suggestion was to just open source the content part of the server so people wouldn't be able to host the server themselves essentially but just have access to some of the content you opensource. Would take a bit of work to implement something like that and also have it usable for people that want to contribute. I think I've seen it in the past with servers like Battlescape and maybe another one. Some people in the community would potentially be able to help you implement it.

Either way, keep up the great work. Would be cool to see it online someday.

I wouldn't open source anything, most are just here to steal and claim its theirs.

    Update 7/8/2022-

So for the month of June I felt I made some great progress.

    Tears of Guthix

I wanted to get this quest done because of the it is required for While Guthix Sleeps and in addition, the stories you are able to tell Juna after you complete quests. I'd rather start adding the quests I have re-created as I go because adding too many at once would be annoying.

I also got the minigame done.

    Hazeel Cult

This quest is one of the last quests from RSC that I have to remake. It's so old and outdated and I don't enjoy making quests from RSC for this reason. At that time, they didn't use vars to make NPCs and Objects render differently. At some point, I plan to rework it like they did in 2012 when they released the sequel quest, by adding two cutscenes for parts of the dialogue and adding vars for some of the NPCs and objects. But that's not something I want to waste time doing right now, as this quest was already like making two quests. So I need to move on to recreating more.

    The General's Shadow

This miniquest is required for ROTM. It doesn't give you much besides 5k Slayer experience and the Shadow Sword which is just cosmetic. I don't like making miniquests as much because something I enjoy seeing is the quest point count go up after I finish re-creating a quest. But this miniquest needed to be made.

    Haunted Mine

I had been meaning to make this quest for a while. It's not required for ROTM but it does unlock the strong reward of the Salve Amulet, which might not be as useful in Pre-EOC as it is in OSRS but it is still needed for Revs.

It was also used in one of the best Pre-Eoc training spots, Armoured Zombies. I am not sure it is as good after the Wilderness got re-added, because praying at the altar above which is in a multi combat zone would likely be met with a dragon spear and getting piled. But thinking back, I am pretty sure that Jagex made a separate version of that area of the wilderness that was a safezone. Anyway, that's something I can think about in the future when I re-create Defender of Varrock and Spirit of Summer/Summer's End, which will hopefully be next year.

I'm quite proud of my recreation of this quest. The quest is pretty short and doesn't have much dialogue, but I had to put a lot of effort into the mechanics of it.

I want to also thank Rendi for his video on trying to get a Salve Amulet (e) at the lowest possible level, because when he sweated it out he figured out how the boss works so I didn't have to hehe.

    Tarn's Lair

So this mini-quest, like Haunted Mine, isn't required for ROTM but the two kind of go hand in hand. It unlocks the Salve Amulet (e), which gives a further 5% more damage against undead. The video is only 9 minutes but this dungeon is very complex, it took me a while to add all of the traps and things that are in it. I try to avoid hard coding things when I am able, but sometimes Jagex makes that impossible with how some of the stuff they made works.

Also, in pre-EOC, for whatever reason, they added these torches in the boss room which in my opinion are stupid and I will probably end up removing them from the map data sometime.

So that's it for this month.

I guess my question for everyone pertains to what I said earlier in the post: When I make the Pre-EOC quests that make you go to the Wilderness (Defender of Varrock, Spirit of Summer and Summer's End) should I do what was done in RS2 where instances/non wilderness versions of the areas were made for the quests? Or should I make people go to the wilderness for the quests?

My goals for this month are:

    Sheep Herder
    Mourning's Ends Part I
    Mourning's Ends Part II

And if I have time, Sea Slug

I think you should just make people go to the Wilderness. At the very least, it might increase some Wilderness activity.

Encouraging non-mutual player killing is exactly how you get in the situation where OSRS/RS3 are with PVP right now. Awful idea.

Open sourcing a project doesn't help speed much up in my opinion. People constantly were telling me to open source Darkan because more developers would help out and not a single person outside of my development friend group has submitted a PR in the years it's been open source.
