Quality work my friend. I'm also a fan of the 2011 era, looking forward to play your server. Best of luck!
Hi, sorry it's been a bit, Just wanted to leave a quick update with what I've been working on.
This post won't be as detailed as usual.
Completed Bone Burying and the Ecto. Will do Gilded altar stuff when I make construction.
Completed the entire fletching skill (I don't have time to write it all in detail atm sorry)
I've started summoning.
it took me about a week to get the general mechanics of the skill working, such as the orb, familiar details tab, the familiar following you properly, beast of burden, special abilities and so on.
I had to piece together all of the configs/varbits from different sources
I created the summoning pouch and scroll interface and you can properly create them.
I haven't made the combat abilities yet and only the basics of familiar combat. The only one with combat stats/animations so far is the terrorbird.
So far I have made 19 familiars. I plan to make every familiar even though most are useless.
For each familiar I try to:
Get the correct sounds (summoning/calling, attacks, special ability) - this is low priority since I have to do this from memory/videos/what is left on rs3.
Add all of their dialogue (found a great resource for this, an old video someone made from 2009 has all of them/ also rs3 has some of them still)
Make sure the proper chat head animation is on the follower details interface
Add all the possible effects and special ability for the familiar.
All the correct animations/GFX (summon, dismiss, special ability, passive effect, attacks)
Even though most are useless I do want to make them all.
I will update you when I finish, it will probably take me another week?
Just wanted to post a quick update on Summoning.
Here's a picture of all the familiars I have done so far.
All of these familiars are 100% complete with the correct dialogue, special ability and moves, combat, and correct animation on the follower details interface.
A few I can't complete yet, such as bunyip, ravenous locust which will require me to identify food/allow raw food to be cooked, so I will just do it after I make cooking.
It will probably take me another week to finish the skill, see you then.
Damn, one of the best threads I've read on this website. Great job.
Are you planning on fully releasing this at some point or is it just a fun project?
Maybe I will host it at some point but I am not looking to make money or anything as it is just something I've always wanted to do
Update 4/26/2019 -
I have finally finished all of the Summoning familiars and most of the skill.
I have attempted to complete every single familiar, as I have said before some I can't complete yet because they require something else to be completed, such as cooking for the Bunyip special.
All Familiars have:
-Correct Summon and Dismiss animation
-Correct Cost and Experience on Summon
-Correct point drain during the familiar's life
-Correct Familiar speech (ie. Baroo baroo!)
-Correct combat animations and every familiar has stats (that I had to make up sadly).
-Correct Special names and descriptions if I could find them (otherwise I just made it up based on the wiki)
-Correct Animation on the follow details interface
-Correct passive effect (Forage, invisible boost etc) if applicable.
-Correct Dialogue for every familiar
I tried my best to recreate the way familiars function in combat and follow the player. I will improve it with further testing in the future.
Beast of Burden familiars work properly, including the ones than can only store pure ess and rune ess.
You can renew a familiar within the last two minutes of its timer, but this will cost summoning points.
You can create every familiar and scroll at a summoning obelisk. I made sure to make all the ones present in the game functional.
You can restore your summoning points at the small obelisks across the game.
In the future I plan to add more of the Summoning related content such as storing scrolls in helmets, shard trade in and familiarisation. I also need to make the Wolf Whistle quest.
But I need a break from Summoning because I spent almost a month making it.
Next up I am going to make Cooking and Crafting, as I want to continue with my goal of finishing all of the skills (Except Dungeoneering and Construction for now).
Here is a video showing off some of the Summoning stuff I made.
Impressive project, always loved this era.
Update 5/9/2019 -
I have been a little busier (and tired) than I usually am, but I have still been able to make decent progress.
In the time since I last posted, I have gotten two more skills done. I am just going to list all of
the different aspects of the skill that is now available on my server.
I didn't bother making any media for this type of content, but if there is anything you would like to see let me know.
Crafting:
Battlestaff Crafting
Broodoo Shield creation
Crude Gem (Opal, Jade, Red Topaz) cutting with chance to crush gems based on wiki findings
Gem cutting
Pottery Wheel / Kilns
Molten Glass creation
Glass Blowing
Jewelry Crafting with proper interface
Leather Crafting (All types)
Studded Body and Chaps creation
Spiked Vambraces Creation
Loom weaving (Baskets, Linen, Sack, Seaweed net)
Silver Jewelry Crafting with proper interface
Snelm creation
Spinning Wheel (Thanks to Jesse for getting me the object animation)
Sheep Sheering with proper sheep mechanics
Stringing amulets/symbols
I left out urns because I never really liked them. Not a fan of any type of experience bonuses.
I also left out milestone capes because they are pointless and cosmetic.
Cooking:
All the cookable food that is obtainable currently is cookable. My best guess of how the burn rate works is:
Using the burn levels from the wiki, I am fairly certain I got the chance pretty close. I cooked 500 tuna on my server and osrs with theCode:int chance = (range ? data.getRangeBurn() : data.getFireBurn()) - player.getSkills().getCurrentLevel(Skills.COOKING, true); int random = Misc.getRandom(99) + 1; boolean burn = random <= chance;
same cooking levels, and the total amount burned was only off by 5.
Preparing a raw Cake
Adding Chocolate to a cooked Cake
Creating all cocktails (creating the mix, pouring)
Creating Dough (All 4 types)
Creating pie shells
Creating raw Pies (All types)
Creating all Pizzas
Slicing Pinapples/Lemons/Oranges/Limes
Wine Making
Stuff I left out:
Food you can cook from quests I haven't made
Gnome Cooking: Extremely pointless and can't easily be done with an enum. Not going to waste time on it since it's mainly used
for a dead mini-game.
Potato creation: Once again, another big mess that can't be neatly done with an enum and its dead content.
The only potatoes people ever use are cheese because it can be bought at warriors and Tuna/Chilli because they are dropped by GWD minions/Corp
Any other minor cooking content that I left out, I will probably add when I come across it again.
Other:
All of the consumable food and drinks that are obtainable in the current version of my server now work with the proper delays
and effects. (Ex: purple sweets heal 10-30 and 10% run, Vodka heals 50 but drains attack and boosts strength,
Admiral pie gives =5 fishing,
Combo eating / Food - Brew- Karambwan also work now
Next up I am going to be working on the last buyable skill I need to make, Smithing and then I will complete Farming.
The remaining skills I have left are: Smithing, Farming, Agility, WoodCutting, Fishing, Mining, Thieving, and Hunter.
(I won't be doing Construction and Dungeoneering yet, they will take quite a while to do)
Most of them are pretty fast, although Farming may take a while. Once I finish all the skills, I need to convert/fix some of the
content I made on the server I started with, then I will start doing new content again.
I also have a few things I need to do that I've put off to the side for too long:
Certain objects (such as agility log obstacles) the path finding ignores and allows you to walk through them
Fix NPC and Player interaction in combat to get rid of any dancing effects
Learn how to make cutscenes/instances
Running Energy/Weight System
