Someone on this thread told me it was wrong when I was doing it that way, I'm confused now.

Not sure who told you that, but they're wrong, if you want to do a git revert you'll end up loosing every single change rather than the single change it suppose to be, with multiple changes per commit also makes reviewing a lot more difficult.
