I have been playing rsps for awhile now and i have always wanted to try and get into making my own only thing is i dont even know where to begin. So i figure google was the first stop, and thankfully it has landed me here. I have been trying to view some videos on doing so but i have not been able to get anything going properly.

i have no experience what so ever in doing anything of this sort but i figure why not put my foot out there and try anyways

    Thank You

I highly advise learning Java before even looking at RSPS development. I suggest either [Only registered and activated users can see links. ] or[Only registered and activated users can see links. ]
You can always just download and IDE and a source/client from the download sections and hack something together but you will learn a lot of bad practices.

I'm just gonna re-iterate what predatorx said above. Learning Java is probably the most important part of it if you wanna really get into it. Here's a website I used a lot to learn some certain languages that I think you might find useful in learning Java. They keep it super simple and start from the base level and should be more than enough to get you going on RSPS.

Not too old of a post so I don't think I'm grave digging yet. I could be wrong but I just saw this today.

DO NOT LEARN TO CODE FROM A RSPS. LEARN TO CODE THEN MAKE A RSPS

    1. ) Learn Java ( majority of the private servers here are java. )
    2. ) I'd learn SQL, but I'd also learn JSON, ( JSON is a lot more readable and reliable in some instances )
    3. ) I'd learn how gradle works incase you want to use it or are using a server that uses it.
    4. ) Learn Kotlin ( It's not 100% needed but it's a lot cleaner than Java )
    5. ) Learn about the IDE you plan on using. My suggestion is Intellij versus what many used in the past which was Eclipse or Netbeans )
    6. ) All clients use OpenGL for their graphics. Could be helpful to learn if you want to do some fun stuff like water customization, sky customization, ect.
    7. ) I'd get an idea on how networking works so you can understand how one thing connects to another.
    8. ) Other people rush through their project that they don't understand half the classes in their rsps. They're just quick to throw some crap up to get some money. So, I'd take the time to learn how each class works.
    9. ) Find yourself or make a cache editor
    10. ) Lastly, Learn to write clean, good, efficient code. Not the slop that has to be rewritten it's nice to get a source and not have to completely rewrite it because the code is terribly written.
