If you really want a stable base, you should go for RS2HD created by Graham. It has a decent combat system. It's just 1 system but works for PvP, PvN, NvN. Also it isn't really hard to program.

Hi there,
I have been coding old style servers (317) back in the day but never released any, I noticed the community has finally managed to cook a HD-capable client and new servers.
I've been sitting under a rock for quite a while, I have'nt taken the effort to study any new servers yet, I'd like to ask you guys of what did change the most.
Is there a mostly stable and good base server to start on that is more than just being able to walk around?
I'm dreaming about creating a PVP based server where the players have to produce the equipment for themselves, but for that I'll need to know how do the new servers "roll" if you know what i mean, i'm not quite sure how much did it change since the old servers.
I really like the new graphics of runescape but there's nothing wrong with the old of course, But the fullscreen feature is just plain epic. Therefore I'm trying to decide wether i should continue working on old servers or should i start to learn how the new servers work? I've got quite used to the old ones but I really can't decide.
The features I'm looking for is:
Working PvP.
Being able to spawn custom objects, i really need that one!
Basic NPC system. Yeah so that they can walk, are attackable and can drop.
So yeah I'm sort of looking for a source and asking for opinions at the same time but i doubt any replies will arrive because it's usually just like that, but i have hope

Thanks for the reply!
I've downloaded the source and it does seem quite confortable!
For some reason i thought it was all coded in python and not java, but having checked it proved me wrong.
I've still got one question: What is mapdata, what is it for? I see it mentioned everywhere but I didn't find what is it for exactly.
Which version? The newest version of Palidino's is maybe alot more stabler then the last one, but anyway RS2HD is easier to program. Also I think if you program RS2HD proper it can be even better as Palidinos..
Also he seems to be an pretty advanced programmer, or atleast, not dumb.
I think he even didn't check the RS2HD source proper yet.
