Apparently I live under a rock, Chromium is dropping support for NPAPI and honestly I can say good riddance, however this means Java will no longer work in browsers. That being said, its probably best for you RSPS owners who still use"Web clients" to start migrating to a universal desktop client.
Here are a few options for you
C# is becoming a cross platform language, so with that you can take advantage of .NET, I released my Summit Loader awhile back.
The code takes advantage of WebKit, but soon I'll push an update to make it utilize a built in OpenJDK so the user won't even need Java installed. This will also allow you to some level communicate between the C# client and the RS client

If you don't want the hassle of that, I made this to load jars remotely so they can always be up-to-date
There is a known bug however I haven't fixed: https://github.com/Codeusa/Drunken-JAR-Loader/issues/1

Anyway, switch because in April 2015 NPAPI support will be disabled by default in Chrome.
Well, this sucks
Thanks for this Anderp
In other news: Google code is shutting down as well.
Thanks for the information.
Well it's disabled on chrome by default for security reasons or something. But I'm sure it's not a big deal. Maybe oracle will rewrite the java plugin. Haha
Finally, I am actually looking forward to this. I hope to see some serious work by jagex on making a native client now. I picture something epic and my standards are so high, I can only be disappointed.
This really isn't a huge deal, google has the GWT which already supports compiling java -> javascript, this is just a way for them to secure their own products while simultaneously knock down oracle.
They posted on FaceBook about bringing out a new client recently, here are a few images.

On Topic; The Oldschool team mentioned that Chrome support would end really soon in a live-stream about 2 weeks ago:
