Hi Ebp90,
This project is one of the most Amazing and wonderful thing anyone can do for Runescape and its future and past. Absolutely all the love in the world for you for doing this and recreating all the quests. This kind of project is dream of mine. I share the love for the lore and the game and this ERA with you with all my heart! I can't tell you how exciitng it is to see the game more and more recreated!
So please, I implore you, please consider releasing this project in the future, for the community of legitimate players who want to re-live this experience. This is it, there is no more 2011scape anywhere, not with the official company not with any other developer project as of today. I understand your strong feelings for abusers/profiteers. But man, think about this, and I mean as a lover of Runescape, really do think about this. This project is Immensly bigger than them.
People always create to share and see the same joy they felt for the creativity. Some biggest artists always say if they can share and make one person happy then its worth creating for them. Creating something so magnificient and letting it buried alone or waiting too long to release as it has shown from the past with so many projects is a hinderance in many ways.
We have 2006scape, (open source); we have 2009scape, (open source); [2011scape, this is your spot man].
Every open source project has developers worried about abusers. Case and point : every project out there. We wouldnt have dolphin, we wouldnt have Cemu, we wouldnt have Yuzu if devlopers were like "no, keeping it private for personal use. I dont like abusers/profiteers". In the future when others are motivated enough to continue preservation they will find your contributions immensly helpful because your work is a solid building block for that future.
Hopefull you reconsider the idea of release in the future. May your heart and opinion change for the better.
will there be the miscellania questline?
Right now I'm prioritizing ROTM first, but I do plan to make:
Nomad's Requiem
Love Story
Do No Evil
Myreque quest line
Dwarf quest line
Miscellania questline
Void quest line
Possibly goblin quest line
I appreciate your passion but you must understand, I've put so much of my free time into this over the last 4+ years. There's no way I can ever make it open sourced.
However there are other ways to people can help, such as collecting things like quest journals and dialogue from Rs3, making drop tables or collecting item spawn info (wiki is sort of lacking with this)
I created a discord if anyone would like to join it:
Here I will post updates and what I am currently working on. In addition you can offer help here but I'm not going to make it open sourced, sorry.

If that is what you wish Ebp90.
I will say in my closing words, that people create so they can share it and see their work enjoyed by others, because without it, the work and time we invest is kind of meaningless. What do I mean by that? Well its that old saying we learned from media and wiser people. You can have the whole world to yourself, the kingdoms, the lands, the wealth, immortality, but if you cant share it with anyone else, the appeal of it gets lost real quick.
At your current state of mentality, your thinking [its my work, my choice]. Completely understandable. That is about every inexperienced mans natural thought. But you look at everybody outside this runescape world.., you know what forget that, look just inside this runescape community; the people that made caches possible, clients possible, xta keys possible, servers possible. We wouldnt be here without them. All this time you invested on it right, where does it end up? This creative life, does it live on or die under you? With you in your hands clutched tight, for 1 year? 5 years? 10 years? till your old with white beard?
What did all those project releasers think when they first started? ran the servers and built a community? and then what happened at the end? Their projects are released publicly because somewhere along the journey they realized its them preserving runescape and they cant do it forever. While they encourage others to contribute, not everyone is skilled or has the oppertunity in life to learn the skills to do it. Very few people learn the skills and preserve, Rather than see their work die with them, now they are forever remembered for making new projects possible and inspiring others regardless of how few. Consider this, You are a result of that inspiration.
What I mean by open-sourcing is letting your work bear fruits. Meaning the quests is one of the most lacking parts of private servers or open source projects. I dont mean as asking or wanting help form others, you can be prideful, nothnig wrong with that. You can do this solo all you want. Complete it and release it, or release and complete it.
Anyways thanks for considering. If not you, perhaps some other hero will come by.

Easy for you to say, not dedicating years of your free time to something. You're acting like I'm hiding some kind of AI technology or some life changing discovery. it's Runescape bro. I'm just replicating information that is still freely available. And since you aren't willing to take up my offer on helping me in other ways (collecting dialogue etc) it's pretty clear you wrote this bull shit to just try to tug at my heart strings so you can profit off it.
As you wish man. I got sentimental and tried. No offense was intended. I understand though. I'll move on.
As per your accusation. I havent played Runescape since EOC was released, that means over 8 years. I have recently been looking into Runescape and discovered some projects and I started playing open-source 2009scape. Its the best that is available to authentic pre-eoc.
I always get excited when I see new posts on this thread, I love the attention to detail on this one, the sounds, the flawless texts, combat system, quests. It‘s incredible man, don‘t pressure yourself too much though, you could be gone for years and I‘d still root for you if you posted that you‘re still working on this lmaoo. Keep it a passion project, not a chore or responsibility. Also don‘t let others rip off your work by open-sourcing it. I don‘t want to see 100 people hosting an one-of-a-kind level RS emulation and profiting off of it...
The Defender of Varrock quest cutscene is lowkey scary ngl lmfaooo, digging it
