That's not what he's asking at all, I understand the market you are targeting, however, it's my opinion its a very niche market. I personally believe people play RSPS to escape the long grind that is Runescape, with that being said I know people are unable to play Runescape from this era as they only have Oldschool or RS3. Though I couldn't ever commit my time to a server like this as the lifespan is unknown, imagine putting in hundreds of hours to work for the server to be taken down.
I imagine the majority of this feedback is due to the nature of how RSPS have been, not saying that this won't be successful, just think its not what people are used to.
But I hope the server does well and wish you all the best with it
First of all, his comment was very much sarcastic and I was replying sarcastically in agreement. But my server is not an "RSPS" if that is what people consider to be RSPS. It is not a server to "escape the long grind". It is a server to play the game how it was back then with no microtransactions and easyscape that RS3 is so heavily criticized for.
That is precisely why my development is absurdly performance and efficiency driven to make all content in the server incredibly performant to support as many players online in a cheap hosting environment as possible. That being said, I have quite a stable real life income from being a capable developer so I have no need for any extra money from RSPS.
The server will NOT be shut down and has been online for well over 3 years since I started working on it and before advertising it at all. The very very cheap VPS that I use can easily host well into the range of a thousand players and I have zero problems paying for it out of pocket.
I know people don't want to play something that will shut down, which is why I point them to look at some of the dedicated players of my server. There is an ironman that is on the verge of maxing with quite the incredible bank value and even that one single player's hard work and dedication alone is enough to warrant me keeping the server online until I die or Jagex shuts it down, let alone all the other players who have invested time into it as well. The last thing I want is to see player's time and effort being wasted especially at my own hand.
Who knows, though! I might open up a lazy ass pay to win server separately to compete in the cancer market that is customized RSPS just for the hell of it, I know my development skillset is 100x larger just in myself alone than over half of the entire dev teams of most popular servers who just pay for anything they ever add and have no idea how to fix any issues that pop up on their own. If players are stupid enough to throw endless amounts of money at retarded developers that hardly even have a basic grasp of RS's most simple mechanics and put very little quality dev time into their server aside from mystery boxes, I might just have to break down and do it myself but at a higher standard. Just boggles the mind that "some players hard work might be deleted if the server shuts down", but thousands and thousands of real life dollars is just easy to shrug off when a server scams them out of their money by shutting down?
Bump for this AMAZING remake. I joined the game few days ago, and i can tell it is the best codded RSPS (even if even can call it a RSPS, i prefer remake).
1:1 grind is a bit hard overall, but it makes every accomplishment even greater. I would love to see more players to play with, but i already made some friends.
Shades of Mort'ton minigame has been completed as well as Vyre cremation.
