It's sort of a 317 thing to do I know, but to utilise the graphics and contents and such to render onto OSRS would be amazing to see visually and large amounts of people would actually like to give it a shot even the OSRS community wants it in real OSRS.

So just curious as to if someone would be bothered to convert data to OSRS and whatnot, and opinions on this concept?

This isn't difficult to do for the most parts. Converting everything except for animations and cs2s would be super simple honestly. Not much is different even between OSRS & RS3.
However with animations the problem comes from the changed player skeleton, so converting player animations is difficult. As for CS2s - well, you'd kinda have to manually implement a lot of them, which also means basically refactoring both clients which takes forever.
Another small problem that rises from it is with model rendering - while it's fine for most cases, there will be some issues with priorities, so some models may look a bit fucked under certain angles and whatnot.

Besides these points, go ahead, do it as you wish lol. Oh and in case you don't know - because the CS2s cannot be so easily converted, interfaces will not function for the most parts.

Converting data between the two is very easy. Like mentioned above, scripts are where most of the issues come from. Some servers have solved this by just remaking the interfaces to match OSRS but using the 503+ format, which is time consuming.

Definitely possible to do a full conversion of information & data from OSRS to 503. Things like items, npcs, textures, sprites, models, are all easily converted since there isn't much of a difference. Not a new concept, but I don't think I've seen it done to it's full potential.

this has been done, Several people have learned to convert the data to be packed to 667. However ive never seen a 503+ cache with 100% packed osrs data. Things would need to be changed around with the client. As far as cs2 goes you would need to take the instructions from the osrs client and have then inside the 503_ client. its all super simple just pretty time consuming and almost pointless to most people who can pack data.

It's not 'super simple' imo, I already had a lot of problems packing higher revision data in a 614 server. As far as CS2 goes, the osrs instruction set is not that different from 503+. Just make sure you have a revision before the cs2's got scrambled.

Here's a 530 client loading an untouched 177 cache. Now you've seen one

OT: Always loved this idea, but now that runelite has a opengl plugin, you gotta question if you think the conversion is worth it.

And yeah as stated above, cs2 instructions is the most painful thing to deal with.

Actually that was a lie, I had repacked hd textures into archive 1 in the textures index.

    Here's how it looked pre-that

first of all, everyone here is underestimating how hard/time consuming it is to convert osrs protocol formats to higher revisions

for example, a lot of data is not available in osrs which means it requires generating new data such as HD water data/atmospheres

Spoiler for HD water & atmosphere example:

speaking of data, a lot of osrs data is either invalid or not correctly supported by 503+ data which also need correction before even being able to be converted (e.g. animations)

and to the guy who claims textures are easily done, they're not (unless ur going to do it in a dumb way which gives problems anyway).

and those who want to manually convert cs2 are better off not bothering anything related to osrs at all

here is inferno, looks easily done but trust me it isnt

    Spoiler for inferno:

now to answer ur question @OP, i dont see a 'full potential' as ur overestimating the amount of content that was released during the existence of osrs

raids (1 & 2) and the new bosses are cool but that's about it. how about making existing 503+ content work properly first? minigames like stealing creation / castle wars are extremely fun but i have yet to see servers that actually add in perfect functionality
