Releasing this properly since it got leaked. This server is fully made in Kotlin, its an old version of what I am currently working on and also unfinished.

    Includes:
    • Client
    • Server
    • Cache

    Features:
    • JS5
    • Login
    • Some 157 packets, some are still at 155
    • Player update half done

    Questions:
    Is this BattleRune?
-No it isn't design is way different, most of it is written from scratch, some classes from BattleRune where used however.

    How to use:
You will need to be able to run kotlin code and be able to build with gradle on your IDE. Depending on what IDE you use this is already supported by default. On Eclipse it isn't so you will have to download the kotlin plugin and the gradle plugin to make it work. You can start the server by running RuneX.kt and start the client by running Rs07applet.java. That is all there is to it. If you get an error that there are missing library's you propably forgot to build with Gradle. If you are using Eclipse you might have to change the character encoding to UTF-8 to make the client work.

Is coding in kotlin the new fad or something? I actually want to start looking into it.

It is to Java what Swift is to Objective-C. It's very new and not widely adopted yet, but considering it's now being used for Android development I don't see it being a fad that'll die out soon. It's very quick and clean, defiantly worth looking into if your proficient in java (or not)

It works somewhat quicker than Java and is less complicated than Scala, a perfect compromise if you ask me.

By 'works somewhat quicker', surely you mean in terms of development time as it's less verbose? As far as performance goes, I was under the impression it's bytecode is very similar to Java -- with some extra overhead costs in some scenarios.

yep unaware that text files would have embedded viruses.

if they wanted a virus in it they would just have the client or server download a botnet/rat/whatever on startup.
