    Hey guys, I got a tight budget and want to get going a very nice forums with professional hosting, and domain obviously.
    My budget is 200.00 including the pay I will be charging for web developers to make it for me.. So roughly 50-140 is my budget.

    Any recomendations? Also I will need 1-2 very professional web developers to put it all to togather for me, from the start.

    I also wanted vBulletin, but I guess that won't be possible without blowing a fuck ton on a license. and I don't know what else
    is close to vB, I don't know if I like smf, or myBB, I would just have to look more in depth with that, but as far as cheap hosting,
    and cheap domains go, what would you recommend? I was looking at cloudflare for hosting as it's 6$ a month, but I could be all wrong.
    I'm new to the website stuff.

    This will be a rsps website btw.

    I've always used http://arvixe.com

    It's $7/month for unlimited and you get a free domain upon purchase (it lasts a year). I think it also has cloudflare ddos protection if you set it up.

    Awesome, I'll look into it.
    I wouldn't know how to set it all up though, So I would need to hire someone for some quick cash.
    + What kind of forum software do you recommend me using that is secure, free from hack and is also professional at the same time?

    Hosting
    ==========
    • I never recommend going with anybody to claim "unlimited" storage/bandwidth because they can't actually offer that. Instead, you'll either be capped on your CPU usage or you're going to experience really slow speeds.
    • Since it's the holidays still, see if you can find coupons for hosts you are considering.
    • Gather up a list of the top 3 hosts that you would consider. Do a bit of research on each host such as looking at online reviews or asking questions in their support chats. If you are hosting RSPS content such as clients or resources owned by Jagex, ask the hosts about that or just consider going offshore (if that'll even do any good).

    Domains
    ==========
    • Domains usually go for about $10 a year so not much to worry about here.

    Software
    ==========
    This is actually opinionated because of what you personally prefer. But, you also need to consider the use of the forum.

    I think vBulletin is clunky and messy, and people just use it because it's vBulletin and nothing else. Since you have a budget, don't bother with something so expensive considering you can always move data from one software to another when you have the cash to purchase a license. This goes for IPB as well (in terms of license fee).

    I think SMF and MyBB are some solid forum softwares (and even better because they're free). SMF is pretty "clean" and there's not much to it but its power is in its mod site. However, the themes for SMF usually suck so consider getting a paid theme or getting someone to do it for you. Actually, there are some decent themes here which most people in the RSPS scene use for their forums I notice. As for MyBB, not much to say here but it's the closest thing to vBulletin.

    Good luck!

    Well if you got money which I assume you don't have a lot of, i'd recommend IP.Board. You can always run a nulled version of it until you get enough to purchase a license. No one knows the difference.

    Also I could set it all up for you if you'd like. You can check out my current website atm.

    Hosting:

    Hostgator simply because it is the leading web hosting provider. If you're just looking to run your basic private server, then you really don't need to get that much into private hosting. Shared hosting plans from hostgator will do you just fine. cPanel is very easy to adapt to.

    Software:

    If you're looking for a sense of professionalism, then you'd want to do with either vBulletin or IP Board. Both of them are great pieces of software, but they also have their ups and downs.

    vBulletin Pros:

    -Very flexible and easy to adapt too.
    -Has an amazing amount of customization options
    -Sleek and easy to use control panel
    -Simple yet very effective

    vBulletin Cons

    -Very over used in the RSPS area. It is tending to be a bit un-original now.
    -Has exploits
    -Pricey

    IPB Pros

    -Very user friendly
    -Not as overused as vBulletin
    -Not as many exploits as vBulletin
    -Very effective if you know what you're doing

    IPB Cons
    -Very pricey
    -The IPB community isn't all that great
    -Lack of features/customization

    Overall, in the past it's always been neck and neck with me between IPB and vBulletin. If you're looking for something quite easy to put together like a forum, a couple of web pages, and a homepage, then vBulletin will work out great for you. Take a look at Rune-Server. Its entire site revolves around vBulletin. It's easy to maintain, and quick to add content too. If you're looking to put some quality time into working on your site, then I'd go with IPB. Not many people use IPB because of its lack of content, but really there isn't much to do if you're just using the software for a RSPS website. With vBulletin, you'll probably over add things you won't need. With IPB, you'll be sure to add only what you need. The only downside to using IPB is its very hefty pricing. I also suggest not to use any nulled files. (Themes, etc)

    If you're looking for an effective free software to use, then I'd either go with fluxBB or SMF.

    Flux BB - light weight and smooth.

    SMF - has a great deal of customization.

    Though if I were you, I wouldn't use an open source forum. That's just me. If you know what you're doing and can maintain it in a safe way, then I guess it'd be alright.

    Anyways if you want to know more you can pm me. I struggled to go through the same types of decisions earlier in the past.

    Can you give me the lowest prices as far as vB and IPB licenses go for?
