Thank you! I think I did great!
So, as I said before, I think I did great! The judge at the end just asked one question and was pretty dumbfounded at the end of it really. He said "you did amazing" like 4 times and said our presentation looks beautiful. I'm pretty optimistic on getting the top 10!
Well done man. Congratulations on nationals! Thats so cool.
Thank you for such nice comments.
Unfortunately, even though I did make it to nationals (top 10 projects), my school district refuses to pay for my trip to the national competition. They gave us an estimated total of $900, and I just don't see the point in paying 900 dollars for a competition that doesn't have any sort of prizes besides of plaque. I'll probably work on this on the side from time to time, but this will not be for the competition anymore.
rippppp thats a bummer but shit maybe you could get into godot and make a better 2d game with a better game engine and the new knowledge
So, a kind of funny thing happened. While we did qualify for nationals, we didn't go to nationals due to financial reasons. Thus, we were not able to get to extra 200 possible points per judge. At nationals, they started to announce the people who placed, and somehow we were still announced! Hah! While we didn't get top 3, since we didn't present in front of judges, I found it funny that we still got medals and placed in the top 8 in the competition despite missing out on the 200 possible extra points per judge.
As for updates on the project, I'm considering rewriting the networking to use Netty or something instead of KryoNet. I'll probably mess with this again in summer break.
