Sand and Swords, a game made in Java SWING
This will be a simple, single player Java SWING game. Players will be able to purchase items, improve and level up stats, and face better opponents as they get level up.
I'm just building this for my portfolio required for university.
Quick look at the basic framework:
Good Luck! As looking at some Media, this will be a Network Based Game or just Client?
Gameplay kinda resembles a more idiot friendly pokemon. .. I hope to see this develop further. Did you make your own sprites?
S&S update 2
Today you get a look at changes to the UI, combat system, and general improvements to the entire game. Also included is our chatbox to interact with other users in Sand and Swords.
What about making it so you simply hit attack and then it cycles through the process for you. User Interaction would then take place perhaps with modifiers. (Using the Healing, maybe a double-hit bonus for x amount of points, or a 1.5x damage multiplier etc.)
I know this is early stages as it is, but I was frustrated just watching you have to click the attack button repeatedly, let alone me having to do it myself.
I realized the design for combat was completely atrocious, so I decided to rewrite it, as long as many other components of this game.
The attack & heal buttons were provided to give the user a choice between attacking, or healing. I originally had it attack automatically for you, but I needed to give the user a choice when it came to be their turn. With the new design, the user will have the option to use abilities, or heal/pot up in their next attack sequence. (So basically, the user will continuously attack, but it will check if an ability or potion is selected and use it in that turn instead of the basic attack.)
gl w/this.
