    Aurora - Oldschool RuneScape bot
Experience in writing scripts for other bots, or Java programming in general?
We're looking for you! Introduce yourself on our FORUMS and have a chat with us !

Welcome to our official Aurora topic. Aurora is an Oldschool RuneScape bot developed by a team of bot developers that have been actively contributing to the community for the last few years. Three out of the five members of our development team are currently employed as software engineers, so we have a good deal of professional experience going already. It has to be said however, that Aurora is just a side project for us (among many other projects) that we picked up randomly and we don't want to deceive everyone with the same "we have a professional development team" line like everyone else is doing.

    History
After doing our own development behind the scenes for quite some time (initially started out as an eoc bot in early 2012, switched to OSRS in 2013), we merged with a semi-large bot called vInsert. Unfortunately, after we merged their database into ours we found out there was a backdoor in their db which ended up getting us compromised as well. Thanks to this, what was supposed to be a good start ended in a bit of a disaster. We took a month or two to recover from this and set up a new security model which we now follow. Amongst the actions we've taken was a migration to phpBB and a change to using bcrypt for password hashing rather than the easily brute forceable md5 hashes that most common forum softwares still use. We are doing whatever we can to improve security (as such a planned migration to supporting purely HTTPS is on our to-do list).

    The team

Our team currently consists of five active members, heres a list:

Rick Administrator at RS-Hacking, Involved with several older bot projects (2006-2011)

    A_C / Cov KBot, Powerbot

    tcw KBot

    iJava vInsert

    xor vInsert

    Our product

Aurora is an Oldschool RuneScape bot that uses byte code engineering to gather data from the RuneScape client directly.
This is a proven technique used by many of the bots developed after Arga.

    Key features
    - Clean and straight forward interface
    - Global navigation in most parts of the game world.
    - API overrides (scripts can override API methods to use their own unique implementation, and other methods in our API that rely on the overridden method will use the one the scripter supplies.)
    - Disabling of the renderer for a decent decrease in CPU usage.

    Known problems
    - Random support is incomplete; this is actively being addressed.
    - Small amount of scripts; currently looking for script writers!

    No video material yet.

We're hoping you will give us a try. We understand that using Aurora is not as attractive because of our incompleteness when it comes to randoms and our small script base, but we're hoping to have this resolved within the next month or so. The reason we're placing this topic now is because recruiting script writers without any public knowledge of our product has proven to be quite a challenge.

Check out our forums HERE for more information.
Feel free to leave any questions you have on this thread, I'll try to get back to them asap.

I'll have a look through the API documentation and start writing some scripts, though to be perfectly honestly the majority of them won't be publicly released.
