    - Jagex have been coming up with a 'strategy' on how to deal with 3rd party clients for a couple of months
    - They cannot reveal any details about this strategy
    - Even a closed source version of RuneLite would not fit within this strategy.
    - They are, or will be in discussion with other 3rd party clients, no further comment as to what is being discussed
    - Part of Jagex's 'strategy' will be able to deal with private versions of RuneLite

    Update from Adam:
    https://runelite.net/blog/show/2018-...ed-to-shutdown

would be funny if they are rewriting the client in a new lang like the nxt client.

Why don’t they just rename RuneLite, change the logo since it looks like the rs3 one, don’t go open source for next times sake which caught jagex’s attention in the first plce and rehost the client.

    Simple.

The entire point of RuneLite is that it is open source.

Yeah I know I mean like create a different github that hosts the open source anonymously, then still have RuneLite but with a different name

Hard to really explain I’m surprised they can ban runescape clients that are safe and still haven’t touched botting sites

I'm fairly sure that if this happened in any other community, the game creators would most likely see that the 3rd party devs have a clear passion for the game, as well as decent coding knowledge. They might even consider taking them on or offering them some sort of role where they could utilise them.
But if we're talking about Jagex, they basically just push them aside and say 'oh well, there goes another one'. Shame imo.

    Spoiler for wat:

For those of you who missed the live Q & A. They talk about RuneLite immediately.

That's because 3rd party clients (for the most part) are ethical and will shut down without any legal stuff involved.
Botting clients and websites on the other hand are not, and will do anything they can to stay afloat. They don't care what Jagex says.

Whoever is in charge of the Jagex legal department really fucked up.
    Very unprofessional.
