In your opinion how many years do you think RuneScape has left (until all world servers close)?

    I'm thinking atleast 10-20 years

It depends on Jagex wanting to listen to their playerbase or not. That's how RS3 basically died (if there wasn't microtransactions it probably would've been closed arleady).
10-20 years is a bit ambitious as I don't have the feeling there are a lot of new players coming in to any of the two games.

Do you think people will still host private servers even though the main game is finished ?

If the private server scene is still as active as now whenever Jagex decides to pull the plugs I'd expect a huge increase of players and involvement towards the RSPS community

Rsps would still be a thing and as long as they listen to players, cause yeah look at rs3. Jagex has been adding pretty much near identical updates to osrs from the main game got awhile which is working fine so far. The good thing about the osrs development team is they actually do listen to players feedback, can't say I'm a fan on some of what has been added though. I do like that they add unique stuff that rs3 didn't have, for boss mechanics and such, but the game is becoming easyscape like rs3 is.

I don't keep up with who necessarily runs and owns Jagex. However, I'd also point out if it is a corporate entity then the better question is how will they evolve to retain decreasing profits? If by some major crisis they did eventually file bankruptcy it would likely not be a question of how many years, but of what was the major disaster? There is a better chance of them having to merge with another gaming company/development company before they are down to zero.
    Spoiler for sig too large:

Yet again we are all average age 25-35 by now (assuming you joined RS in its prime). What happens when our average age is 80 and we all peace it to lumby. Maybe that's when Runescape/rsps will die. When nobody else is left. But untill then for sure I'm going to be in and out of rsps/rs scene my whole life either by watching YouTube vids of torvesta or hosting a server myself haha

honestly I think some rsps have the right idea, I personally got into them because they seemed to understand the game better than jagex actually did. It was crazy to login into an rsps and see a game that ran perfectly, had interesting content.... and most of all !!! they seemed to have added the updates, changes and tweaks to the game that jagex never cared about for ex: bank presets.. and to do that with what 2-3 staff memebers and maybe 500$ budget is incredible compared to jagexs 30+ employees and millions to spend. The sad reality is jagex lost the direction of the game a long long time ago and I know myself as well as countless others feel the same when I log in and I constantly see updates that literally nooo onnneee cares about , just like why jagex . Also youtubers know more about the game than they do and how to fix it , just sad. No jagex will die off soon player base had already rapidly declined part of the reason why they put out leagues to try to lessen the damage.

They actually did a great job at inviting certain youtubers to their HQ in London to talk about how to improve PvP. Sad to see they never did anything with the results of that session.

I know feels bad man, I just think that the time frame of survival for them is incredibly limited. They have lost touch with the core player base and unfortunately are following the same path that led to eoc
