Title says it all.
Jump to the 3rd paragraph if you don't like to read, but I highly recommend you read it all.
So ever since I began coding RSPS in 2012, curiosity drove me along the way. With the help of Eclipse, nothing could stop me. I could make methods and modifications to classes with ease. Now, it's 2015, and competition is on a steep incline. This realization has opened my eyes to my experience as a coder. I can say through these 3 years, I have not learned a thing about Java, besides a little syntax. That being said, that means I can only make very small edits to things as I mentioned previously. Also, I can surely say that without the assistance of Eclipse, I am just as bad as any newb out there. I'll get to the point soon though
Now we all start from the same road. Either some friend influences you to get interested in RSPS or Java in general, or you just get bored and curious. Some of those who are amazing at Java now probably leeched some time in their journey and some not at all. What I'm saying is that most of the Java masters in this period of time started like anyone else would, but progressed somehow. This thread is to get that information out. I'm sick of leeching, asking friends for help, and paying for stuff to get coded for me.
As a result, I'd like the best advice out there. I know my personal decision is best, but I'd rather take the advice from those who have already prospered in this RSPS business as a Java developer.
Should I just keep coding my RSPS with Eclipse?
Should I start fresh and start coding 317s to gain basic knowledge of how things work?
Should I torrent some Java books?
Should I watch some Java tutorial?
Keep these questions in mind and leave your best advice below. Share your story of how you progressed and what you think helped you the most. On a final note, I've been dying to ask the "RSPS community" this question, because everyday I strive become the best I can be in various things and aside from video editing, RSPS coding is one of them. Thanks for reading!
