So i was looking on Reddit and i noticed this...
    The actual link : here

I just find it quite interesting how runescape was so popular back in 2006 and now it's practically dead in comparison to it's "Golden Age".
Do you think runescape is dead/dying? Or is it just starting up again.

No surprise there. The best Runescape days were 2006. 2007 was just when tons of people were playing.

Runescape isn't dead (yet), it was just massive back in the day. Everyone had shit computers and runescape could be ran on a hamster wheel. Plus online gaming was still pretty new and runescape was easy to play, free or cheap membership, and was a very advanced MMORPG for the time. Back then, you either played WoW if you had the money/computer specs or RS if you didn't have that.

Personally, if they didn't remove free trade, I bet runescape would've still evolved into EoC, it just would have more players. I can't see runescape growing until Jagex fully acknowledges OSRS and treats it like it should be. Look at it, its pathetic. ~8 developers for half your player base? And for months letting it constantly getting DDoSed? Letting OP stuff like zulrah/nmz/splashing/wyverns stay in the game? They're driving it to the ground. RS3 isn't going to grow, but I don't think it will die anytime soon either.

I think one of the most overlooked qualities of what made RuneScape as it was back in the day was exactly how many people played. Yes the player count has gone down showing a lack of interest in the game itself but in games like RuneScape players are content.

They've made some mistakes along the way unfortunately and without someone like Andrew Gower who could make the veto decision to remove or disallow anything from going into the live game, now it's a matter of these 'experts' in their field passing proposals up the ladder and they just see it as a game rather than their personal creation and (at the time) life's work.

The major difference is that RuneScape is no longer given the same level of passion it was in the golden age and unless I'm mistaken, I believe Jagex was sold in the year 2006? As much as it can be debated, Andrew Gower took a huge level of the integrity and personable experiences away from RuneScape when he left and now it's literally just a profitable venture for those that own it. Unfortunate turn of events but there is no reasonable way I see RuneScape making a good recovery to where it once was, now it's just on a slow descent down until it has the same activity as FunOrb.

Believe it or not, people are getting back into playing RuneScape. For those returning to Rs3, they're trying to learn the mechanics of the game now rather than just keep complaining.
    Add me on RuneScape! Amerr.

That is the website traffic, everyone uses the client now anyway.

With chrome blocking support and their Client and Swiftkit being more stable, the website traffic is bound to go down.
