I found this really confusing for a minute because there was a half decent source called Emulous before but I realized it's been like 8 years since that came out, lol.

some crackhead fuckstain posts a project thread hyping his server up, promises this that and the other thing, and come release date fails to deliver anything that seems noticeably intelligible to his 50 players that came out, 20+ of which donated. they (often some owner with no credibility as a programmer, his web "developer(s)" that make a half ass barely functioning website) then feed the players propaganda such as "updates coming soon" and "stay tuned" to keep the playerbase alive as long as possible to milk as much in donations as possible. You see the playerbase start at 50, drop to 40 in 2 weeks, drop to 30 a month later, drop to 20 a month after that, and maybe maintain ~15-20 players before it inevitably shuts down after the owner decides it's no longer worth the hassle.

this has summarily been RSPS for the better part of 6-7 years since mtx became mainstream, and you have the fuckin audacity to think anybody is going to provide anything better? go find a new game to play

Pretty much bang on. I haven't enjoyed RSPS in a long time either. Still pop my head in here from time to time, however the appeal of the actual game is long gone. Leechers, bad coding and communities popping up every hour for pure profit certainly loses it's appeal almost instantly. It's a long, slow and painful death for RSPS. Trust me - I wish some of the good old servers were still around and had kept up. But the current state is pretty ugly, as a whole (I'm sure there's a few nice exceptions).
