Ya im doing something too. im gathering people now for revision 657 or 658 or waiting for a big update graphical wise or something and im going to dump everything i can and store it etc etc etc... and im going to get people together to start something...

and about them creating them people developing the server why cant they release what they have to a certain point becuz i know those people are 1337 programmers, to finish login and basic things wudnt take long for them.. :/ im not focused on the quality of servers released.. the more a certain revision is released the more people will focus on it and work on it and improve it on their own.. the more people will be interested in working on it... 647 got released by peril and people started to get interested in the higher revisions again.. a few did anyway.. :/ ill just wait a few more weeks and see what happens if nothing happens ima start dumping everything and building my own stuff

The whole backend's similar in MANY ways; Ubuntu was written from Debian.

I've moved your thread to the general discussion section in the RS 503+ Client & Server category since it's mostly speculation. If you have any evidence to back up the claims you make regarding how the RuneScape servers function, feel free to edit that into your post.

As for answering your topic, the delay was likely used to counteract the ability of third-party clients to switch worlds without going through the RS website (see this article about world switching and this one on a third-party client). I doubt it has anything to do with a cycle time for player saving, but feel free to edit your post if you have evidence suggesting otherwise.
