He was pretty much my programming mentor too. He was very quiet about his illness and I'm the only person he spoke to about it, so this would be first word of it within the community. Great guy, great talent and one of my best friends. He had a girlfriend and a young child, total tragedy for him to go at such a young age. I was very sad when I heard the news.

He had been fighting some kind of hereditary organ cancer for the better part of 2 years, just before Christmas he went back into hospital to receive another wave of chemo/radiotherapy and in January he passed away.
