So yesterday, I started messing around after effects for the very first time and actually enjoy using it. I just cannot stop using it now. I ain't here to brag or anything as I know what you are seeing is basic, but just the concept is awesome and looks pretty cool but once I get a little bit better I want to utilize it with my gfx business! I've been testing the waters with it in rsps clients and started making my friend a banner for his server.

Idk whether to post this in showcase or general, but if wrong section please move thanks

Note: these login screens i made were made for educational purposes, was inspired by a few people Wave Monk Chance for the effects.

Any suggestions are handy and your opinions would love to hear them but here you are!

Spoiler for loginscreen example with effects:

Rendering of the gyazo might've made them look terrible, but here is the stock photo

Spoiler for better quality stock photo:

I have not used after effects in quite some time, but if this is your first attempt.. well done!

    Practice makes perfect.

    • I would reduce the frame rate significantly.
    • The pixelation needs to be addressed, not sure what is happening with the resolution.
    • Don't use fire too much, everyone seems to use it for their banners and it's very cliche.
    • Understand lighting and elements a bit more.

    Sometimes simplicity is key.

    Example;

    Example;
How would I go on about changing the speed (frame rate) for the animation? I used gyazo to record over top of the client so I don't know if that made it look fuzzy or not if that is what you mean by resolution!

That looks clean, thanks for commenting

    - It's too active
    - Low quality animations
    - The animated stuff you see here in the RSPS scene are mostly assets taken from a VFX Pack.
    - Saber plugin is frequently used aswell.
    - Bring your login box up, feels rather awkward having it so low at the bottom, same going for the logo having it so at the top.
    - I personally find the example Monk gave (RuneX Login) too active, would make the orbs smaller and less of it.

    Good luck

(Note: I don't do animations myself, just my feedback)

It's probably been 5 years+ since I've touched AE tbh. Most of the banners I have ever made have been through PS, which I find far easier to use.

.gif is a terrible obsolete format sadly. It will only contain 256 colors MAX. This is the result of tossing away more than 15+ million colors which makes full coloured images look pixelated. It has been this way since the dawn of time and it will never change.. this is why you will notice on most .gif images a form of pixelation, far too many colours.

    Gyazo also optimizes the video.

I mostly collected the animations using gyazo and recorded over top of Runescape videos and used old layers had laying around, I think maybe the Gyazo gif tool really sucks for shooting gifs then importing them into after effects (and the frames look then crappy), so maybe I gotta switch up the tool!

The loginscreen is honestly a pure example (not for anybody's use of course), I just wanted to show what the animated background would look like on a client is all and I think it's absolutely awesome!

I'm actually working on a new design but taking step by step with all of your suggestions, I see your artwork and it inspired me to do better and try and make results come out stronger and again, I never knew about using VFX packs so thanks for your response man!!

Should I start using mp4 format? I noticed some of the ads here on R-S are using it, just wasn't sure! thanks man.

    Edit:
I'm currently trying to design myself a signature as well lol.. getting carried away!

It's the most used format IMO when it comes to ads, it's far better. I personally am not an expert, but there are plenty of them here on R-S!

Good luck with this, keep up the good work.

Nice reminds me of the 525 login screen where the anim rotates on game world pictures.

Very cool of you to try signatures!

I have found the best 3D effect is to learn Cinema 4D, it may be intimidating at first but it is trial and error and some of the work created can look spectacular. Far better than just 2 images stacked on each other.

This is just an example of a very simple C4D/PS mashup which really gives your text depth, etc.
