As of right now, the stroke layer itself is a little bit pixelated looking; an effect that can also be creating using the outer glow option, then just tinkering with the spread, distance, and opacity, that had the customization allowance to make it much smoother. The logo itself also feels a little flat, so I'd suggest experimenting a little with the bevel and emboss options (a personal favorite of mine being the chisel hard) to add a little depth, adjusting the highlight and shadow options as necessary. You can actually get some really, really cool effects that way. The color scheme itself is also a little basic, going with just the very hard shades of gray and the one shade of yellow. You can definitely bring this up a whole other level if you play with some different tones of yellow, going super bright to emphasize areas of light, or darker for shadows.
All in all, not a bad start, but definitely spend a little more time experimenting and learning to see what you can come up with. As these early stages are the most crucial in terms of your development, don't fear venturing a little further into the extremes and seeing what comes of it.
