Feel free to tell me any tips for healing, my TA is really good and gave me solid details on healing
Yeah, I've been to a couple of different dudes and they all seem to have a pretty cemented routine on the best healing process. From personal experience though, the first couple of days are where it's going to look pristine and won't do much peeling, pretty much how it'll actually be like when he heals up; don't let this fool you, after about day 3-4, that's when it'll start to flake up, and man do these things flake. Don't be too afraid though if the flakes themselves are dark colored (almost like your skin is pushing the ink back out), that's completely normal and is just part of the process. The one piece I've got on my left arm was straight up flaking off rainbows, and I was so worried at the time that it was healing like shit - turns out as long as you let it do its thing and don't pick/scratch at it, you'll be cash money.

So my strategy for the healing process goes like this:

    - Immediately pick yourself up a bottle of the most basic lotion you can. Unscented, none of that aloe shit, nothing; basic ass lotion (and none of the hypodermic nonsense either). Lotion is going to be applied twice in the days as you don't want to clog your pores up while they're healing, but you also don't want to let your skin dry out too much. Fresh tattoos are almost like sunburns on steroids in that sense (flaky, itchy, and a shitty healing process). No lotion for the first 48 hours though, just let it do its thing leaking some of that extra ink and plasma out, keeping it wrapped in a light gauze if you're so inclined (but again, no lotion or cream of any kind for these 48 hours).

    - After 24 hours, give it a very, very light cleaning. Warm water, no soap, and a very soft paper towel to clean away some of that plasma and pushed out ink. Pat dry, absolutely at no point do you ever want to rub the area is a harsh way (such as you'd imagine normally drying your hair; this includes scratching or aggressive rubbing once the itch starts kicking in). Once dry, wrap back up if you had it wrapped up before in some fresh gauze, otherwise leave it be for another 24 hours.

    - After 48 hours this is when the actual healing process is going to really start. Never expose the healing tattoo to hot water in the shower. Yes, that means you're going to have to shower with half of your body turned away now and using one hand for pretty much everything. When I had my half sleeve done, I had to shower with one arm in the air the entire time like I was asking a question back in grade school. The only time you should be allowing water to touch your tattoo is when you clean it - which from now on is going to be twice in a day, one in the morning and once in the evening before bed. Every time you've finished washing it (again with the warm water, never directly onto the tattoo, and a very mild soap, then pat dry), apply that lotion you picked up sparingly and you should be set. This is now your routine for the week. To summarize: 2 cleanings a day, in the night and morning in warm water and mild soap, and 2 lotion sessions.

    - After about 4-6 days, depending on how you heal, this is when it's going to really start flaking. The itching process starts to come in around now as well. All in all, it takes about 2 weeks for a tattoo to heal up completely, with the first week being the bulk of the work and the second being the testament to a true itch and some minor flaking with what's left. As it's flaking, do your very best to not rush the process. Don't pick at them, don't rub them off, don't do anything to rush them. It's a disgusting process, but unfortunately it's a necessary one. Your skin underneath every one of those flakes is still healing, so if you pull them off you risk having scarring throughout your tattoo. I've got a couple of very small scar spots on my one area where I accidentally scraped my arm pretty harsh putting a hoodie on. When you wash as these flakes are coming off, you'll notice they come off a little more and get stuck on your hands and shit and it sucks, but that's fine. Just keep with the washing twice a day and application of lotion and let it do its thing.

    - After that first week, you're pretty much on the final stages where the main areas will have flaked off and the tattoo will be revealing itself. There might still be some minor flaking on the edges, but again, let them just come off in their own time. Keep the lotioning up and the washing, though around this stage it's alright to let the shower come into more contact with the tattoo (though try and avoid like boiling water if that's your shower style). If the itching gets super bad at any point, take the back of your hand and very gently touch against the area and press into it, then make small circles, like very small. The itching is going to be fucking awful, trust me on that, and the sensation from the touch of the back of your hand is damn near going to be orgasmic, but try and avoid touching it as much as possible. It's a battle of willpower now.

That pretty much sums it up, dude. It's a ton to read though, sorry about that. I got a bit carried away.
