    Would understand with a flat gaming style, but you want your artwork to have depth and texture just as your game does. Would understand it if it was going to be an RSC private server. That being said, I don't think it NEEDS it, just think it will give it the extra kick it needs to come full circle.

    I disagree. A lot of modern games do this now. Sources being: Call of Duty (specifically their zombies storylines), Left for Dead (both games) and a couple others. I think it compliments the 3D environment well.

    Can you provide some snapshots of what you're talking about? I can't find a single thing about Left for Dead having any flat artwork.
    The reason as to why I believe it doesn't fit well is, lack of consistency. You want your players to have a memorable and familiar experience throughout the game. If they see a flat theme throughout the login screen and are then playing a game which uses a lot of texture and depth, it's can put the player off. Just my two cents.
