First, congratulations on launching your site! As it is right now, your site looks super clean, although it is resource heavy as other's have stated. Also, using squarespace is a good move - there's a lot you can do with customization even if it's a builder.
I do have some critiques for you though...
- Your home page takes ages to load and having 10+ gifs is distracting. I would leave still images and include gifs after you click through.
- The animation on your name doesn't add anything to the site, it just makes reading your name more difficult. I would simply get rid of it. Or maybe have it happen less frequently.
- I would redo your navigation. You could easily include your social media links in your about section rather than having them in the nav bar. On my site, I have 'about', 'work', 'experience', 'blog', and 'contact' sections.
- Your about section needs a revamp... Your paragraph about yourself has some small typos and grammatical issues. I wouldn't include software experience in your about section, save this for your resume. If you do decide to use it, make the icons uniform, maybe even flat colored icons. Freelancing sounds impressive but not when you don't show anything to back it up. At the age of 20, I wouldn't believe that you've worked with a thousand clients...unless you showed some work.
- Your work. Each project is a blog post, which is fine, except you need to change around the way your blog is configured because you click "read more" and there is no additional information about each project. Treat each project like a case study and really dive into why you made the choices you made. Why did you pick these colors, why did you use these images, why did you decide to have social media icons in the left and not the right? Really talk about each project and show a stronger level of competence.
- You have 17 portfolio pieces. This might be too much. I would stick with 10-12, but make sure they are your strongest works. You don't want a project you're really proud of getting overlooked. Remember, quality of quantity. You're daily UI project is a fantastic goal and I would definitely keep it going, but I would reserve those projects to a single case study where you can show development and learning rather than trying to use them all as portfolio pieces. Or, take some of the projects you really enjoyed doing, and expand on them. Take a mobile app and design a website to accompany it and really dive as deep as you can go. Maybe spend a few days or a week really digging into a project and developing it into a more cohesive case study.
- Your color scheme is tough on the eyes. While it looks nice, the stark black background makes the white/grey text difficult to read.
- This is not necessarily for your site, but unify your social media! It's great to have a Behance and a Dribbble (congratulations on being a player by the way), but you should make sure they are unified. On Dribbble you should be known as Ameer Ashhab, not MisterSlyther...and include a picture of yourself! You should capitalize your name on Behance and link all of your accounts together. Both Dribbble and Behance allow you to link other social media accounts and your personal site, so make sure you do that.
- If you haven't made a resume, make one, and get it on your site. Having a downloadable .PDF resume is helpful because it provides a much more in depth view of your experience, education, skill sets, and tool knowledge.
I looked at your site for a good hour reading through your projects and I think you're off to a really good start, but you should take a second look. Your work is fantastic and you definitely have a strong eye for UI/UX design, so make sure you capitalize on that and really dig into each project and explain yourself.
Have you looked at other designers' websites for inspiration? I would recommend doing this. You can see what successful designers have done and how they use their site to represent themselves.
All in all, the bulk of the work is done and you really only need to tweak some stuff.
If you need any help with anything feel free to reach out... I myself recently graduated with a B.A. in graphic design and business and have been in the working world for a few months now.
