Fireballs and Other Fantasy OrbsNOTICE: You should have to know a bit of Photoshop before using this guide.
Step 1;
Create a new Image, with quite a large areal, something like 1000x1000.
Step 2;
To make this MUCH easier to work with, create a new layer, and fill it with Black. (You can also paint the BG black).
Step 3;
Make a new Layer!
Select your Brushing Tool (B), right-click on the picture, choose large a Master Diameter (350px would do for 1000x1000), and dont forget to set hardness to 0!
Step 4;
Change your Foreground Color to #663300 (a dark orange/brown)
TIP: Tick your "Only Web Colors" on here, much easier to choose a color.
EXAMPLE:
Step 5;
Paint a dot on the picture
So it looks like this:

Step 6;
Go and select a new foreground color with a ligther color (in this example #cc9900 would do) and put down the size of the Brush by 40-50%..
Step 7;
Repeat step six, but do not change the size of the Brush this time.
Step 8;
Select your Smudge tool (R) and set it to 35 in Master Diameter and 70% Strength.
Step 9;
With your Smudge Tool, you start to smudge, but beware that you do not start from too far into the dot, do somewhere between the inner color, and the egde.
With the first Brush, you should have something looking like this.:

Step 10;
Repeat the 9th step, till you get a nice flame-look-a-like Fireball..
My Resoult:
The smart thing about this is that it can be resized as much as you want. You can play around with it with Smudge Tool
Here is something playing with Smudge Tool abit:
This were just a fast tutorial, could've told way more and made a better looking tutorial, but i cba. lol
Hope you enjoy it.

Try adding a red/orange/white gradient overlay, going from nose/tail>tail/nose? May add a little bit more aesthetic appeal
