Well maybe if we add some links, people will download and start using some of these programs.
Note: I do not take credit for finding these links, just pulled them off Sythe and figured it'd be useful here as well.
So for all the people that wants to make graphics, but don't have programs or just want to try out graphics to see if you enjoy it.
There are 2 basic programs you can get for free!

Adobe Photoshop cs2:[Only registered and activated users can see links. ]
Description: Photoshop cs2 is a very old version of Photoshop.

Gimp:[Only registered and activated users can see links. ]
Description: gimp is a program similar to Photoshop but it is its own program an has different shortcuts an tools. if you never plan to take graphic design too seriously go for Gimp.
Paint.NET: [Only registered and activated users can see links. ]
Description: Imagine ms paint meets photoshop cs2. It is ms paint with more design options. (also supports transparency) this is a great alternative from ms paint.
Autodesk: [Only registered and activated users can see links. ]
Description: 88 different design programs! The most used/know is 3ds max (pc only) and may. they are both great 3d programs. Feel free to try out any of the other programs.

If you relay want to get in to graphics definitely get the trial of Photoshop and/or C4d, you will have it for free for 30 day's. after that if you enjoy that then just try to find a way to get it if you know what i mean

Description: photoshop cc is the newest version of Photoshop.(If you do decide to get a version after the trial look up cs6 its similar and will be easier to get)
Other adobe trials:[Only registered and activated users can see links. ]
CINEMA 4D, 42 day DEMO:[Only registered and activated users can see links. ]
Description: C4d is a 3d program mostly used for text in the online graphics community but it can also be used for molding an cg an animation.
NOTE: You cant save your work in the demo of C4d
