A friend is trying to get a logo printed to jackets but the printing person is using a non- copyright image that he edited.

I don't have direct contact with him, friend of mine does Just tryna help out.

It's a png file and they're trying to break it down into layers.

any help or ideas would be much appreciated with rep.

The PNG file format does not support layers like PDF or GIF.

If it's a PNG, it's already a flat image. A PNG isn't so much a file with the ability to option and edit it as much as it's just an uncompressed JPG image - in other words, it's as a file format for keeping as much quality in an image as possible. If they want layers to edit, they'll have to manually create them in an image editing software using that .PNG image as a base (ie rendering out the sections they want to modify).

Alternatively, if you wanted to extend the offer to them, I'd be able to quickly do any modifications they'd needed if you forwarded the image my way.

    As Wolf said.
A PNG is basically just the JPEG of the web, having a PNG image is no different than having a photograph, except it has the capability to have a transparent background, and is usually in much higher quality through a digital display, at the cost of a couple more KBs on the file.
That being said, having someone break it down into layers like you would like, shouldn't be too difficult depending on what you're going for. Put it up in the Requests section, maybe someone can help your friend out.

    Hi Sir,

WHen saving a PSD as a PNG the image is flattened and compressed. If they want to make changes that might be doable but it is not as simple as opening in photoshop and having layers present. Give me some more info and I will help you better than these fckers above me.

ty sir have a good day.
