So I'm just about to start my strength training, I don't want to have a massive body but just a well built body. I am a little overweight aswell which isn't too good if that matters, like 5kgs or somewhere around there. I'm quite tall aswell, just under 190CM tall and I'm 17 years old. I haven't ever done any strength training other than playing football indoor and outdoor for 4 years. I was having a browse and i saw these so called 'Resistance Bands' so i bought em for around $150, comes with door anchors, multiple kg sets until 13.6KG. I have now looked for a routine and got this.

    Day 1 - Legs
    Day 2 - Chest/Abs
    Day 3 - Back
    Day 4 - Rest
    Day 5 - Shoulders/Abs
    Day 6 - Biceps/Triceps
    Day 7 - Rest

So now I need some advice from pros like sexy Dr.Diablo or anyone else, is this routine good? If you have used resistance bands before are they good and I should keep using them or should I go to the Gym.

    Thanks folks!

I take it you're incorporating cardio into this plan too?

Also, what's your current meal plan/diet?

Apologies for the semi-gravedig but I didn't see a single response on the thread.

I do competitive swimming at a national level and I started working out a while back. In my opinion it is better to have some days where you can both work on your whole upper body, because a lot if workouts work more than one muscle at a time. Good luck with working out and I hope you stick to your plan. Something I like doing is going to the gym because trust me, it isn't intimidating at all (a lot of different peoplw with different body types all trying to get better), and going to the gym, even alone, gives me more motivation than working at home.

I have no fucking idea why people ask for help with physical activities on Rune-server when the majority of the members are not in shape. You can get much better feedback at the Bodybuilding.com forums.

If you're wanting quick and fast results on getting toned, then you're best off doing intensive workouts (more reps, low weight) also, going jogging, swimming and most importantly, the most intense part is doing the programs and diet.

Good advice. Cardio, low rep amount for strength high rep amount for muscle.

This too. It's still your personal preference but when doing back (A.k.a pull) you take some bicep with it, so what i do is biceps, forearms and back on the same day. Same thing with chest and shoulders, training both those muscle groups will also use your tricep

    Good luck on progress man!

Please tell me how on earth am I being an idiot when what I said is 100% true. Someone can get much better feedback elsewhere.

OT: If you want quicker results as a bigginer it is best to do full body workouts and then you can start having days specificlly for chest, arms, back, etc. I recommend using Mark Rippetoes Starting Strength Program. Other than that, its all about proper nutrition and rest.
