The ten thousand who have logged onto the as of yet mysterious game 'Sword Art Online' using their Nerve Gear have been forced into this perilous death game and are trapped inside.

Protagonist Kirito, one of the many gamers, has greeted this 'truth'.
He plays as a solo player in the giant castle that is the stage for this game ---- 'Aincrad'.

To meet the conditions of clearing the game and leaving this twisted virtual world, one of the players has to reach the 100th floor and beat the boss. Will Kirito have what it takes to clear the game, or will he die trying?

Now, my first question was, this is so popular and it's only three episodes, so I thought, oh well, might aswell check it out, because well, the author is the same author from Accel World, and I thought I had something else I could watch the following days after Accel World, to keep me entertained. I had quite high expectations, the first two episodes really were good, really good introduction to the concept and the idea. Then, catastrophe struck, Episode 3. Don't get me wrong, I love the Artstyle, and the author makes really great ideas. However, the people making the anime, rushed this shit out completely. I was very disappointed. The storyline, the idea, was great, I mean, MMORPG, real life shit, involving gear called "Nerve Gear" similar to Accel Worlds "Nerve Link" Now, the main problem during these three episodes, is the major pacing problems, and I mean major, the idea is, these people have to reach the milestone of passing 100 floors, OK, it seems like that would take awhile, but during the 3rd episode, he already went to 44 floors, and is a very high level, though they did not show these floors or anything, just simply skipped ahead. The soundtracks were nice, the voice actors are also good, LiSA is very good at stuff like that. Yeah, I say watch it, but just for the two episodes, LOL.

It feels like now they are going to have a lot less material they could use, so what is this another 12 episode, of a concept/idea, that can be so much longer?

1) Nerve gear thing. SOA is by same person as Accel World and AW is a set in the same world (sort of a sequel) just an undefined time in the future. Hence, technology is named the same.

2) They're following the source material (LN) which SKIPS the floors up to ~44. Anything else would be filler and unwanted.

3) There's plenty of content left, you're only a few chapters into Volume 1. Season 1 is covering the first 4 Volumes... -_-

This anime really is doing terrible, why would they make such a unreasonable number of floors then just skip them, its just poor planning on their parts. No, it's not a sequel because it's not the same fucking hardware. Its based around the near future, just like Accel World. thats all they have in common, i wish ti was a sequel, but its not, nerve gear is for sure not the same, lol. nerve link and nerve gear are both technology that detects and simulates the five senses in out of this world scenarios, however, they work differently.

Terrible composition, skips how he survives, introduces characters then kills them off, accel world atleast is paced better. too many contradictions, so many they just happen to survive via miracle every fucking episode. people on the main picture of the anime die in the 2nd episode, literally, meets a guild, decides to join it, they all get slain, the girl that kinda liked him dies aswell, then some random fucking doofus jumps off a bridge.

Fritz this anime so far is going down a terrible path, if they made it a reasonable amount of floors, and actually went in depth and not suffered from pacing problems, we wouldn't be having this covnersation. so far this anime is becoming a bust, but im forcing myself to watch, because the author is great, and it will start to work out. hopefully, with that being said, dont back up the anime right now, because you see the faults of the anime are already shown

so far, my 8/10 from the first few episodes, which were fucking amazing, went down to a solid 4/10

I quiet like this anime but i have a feeling that it will end soon. Overall i would rate it 8/10

@TheRedArmy - I disagree, SAO as an anime is doing terribad. Atleast with accel world it has better pacing, more unique, I enjoy the artstyle, i see no real flaws in Accel World, the mc to most people is the main problem.

when it comes down to it, sao is going like it could end in 10 episodes, not even, they skip so much, atleast with accel they go through the whole dang fight.

and with sao, they skip boss fights, the ho-ho-ho man

I think this anime is way better then Accel world. Like i said it's awkward that the fat, little guy is main character i think that spoils romantic moments i dropped somewhere at 10th episode. The Sword Art online on the other hand has a lot of characters with completely different backgrounds. There's a lot of drama going on in a good way and it just hooks you up. Plus there's a lot of more risk in The Sword Art online then in Accel world. In accel world if you lose all your points they just uninstall the game and you never can play it. The Sword Art Online on the other hand has a lot more risk because if you die in that game then you die in real life which builds up momentum and makes it more exciting to watch.
