Scammers will never end. The staff on rune-server doesn't get paid for their job too.
The thing is, it's not just rune-server, its every community. No matter how much you try, scammers always come up one way or the other. However, my experience with getting scammers banned on rune-server was actually good. I got a few banned pretty easily. So not sure if the mods have given up or you aren't providing sufficient crystal proof.
But at the end of the day, you are all by yourself.

I already sent proof and a report about 3 weeks ago providing all the proof, discord talks, discord UID confirmation, rune-server confirmation, payment proof, no action has been made & more people have been scammed, I'm not in annoyance about the money that was scammed from me, more annoyed at the fact it's so easy to scam and just get away with it continuing to scam others on the forum.. Not sure where I discreditted 'everyone'.. It's more an awareness thread to how important it is for staff to investigate people on this forums scamming, probably the most important thing, else people that scam do indeed discredit other legitmate people selling services etc...

I think in the past, going back 5 years the process was much more efficient as far as I can remember, I also understand there are scammers within every community and we have to just live with that, but the proof as far as I'm aware is crystal clear. If it's not they should atleast provide acknowledgement rather than keeping you in the dark and allowing the scammer to continue ripping other members.

If you post on someones thread that they're a scammer, it only takes the few seconds of reading that post to know you've broken the rule.

However, a scam report by it's very nature isn't something that can/should take a few seconds. We have to get information from both sides and since the introduction of Discord as a communication/trading tool we now also have to ensure we're not dealing with imposter scams too.

Furthermore, you're comparing one line of text(calling someone a scammer publicly) with an entire scam report, often with about 20 links that aren't actually embedded in the post meaning we as staff have to go individually open each image link.

It's not that we 'don't want to' look into these cases, it's just having the time to go through them properly - we also need to contact and communicate with the individual who the report is being made against and this may end up taking a couple of days depending on timezones and availability.

Instead of making sly digs in posts such as this maybe you should try and remember moderators aren't being paid for trying to protect the community against scammers - we benefit literally nothing(as in, none of us really trade much with users in this community so we aren't even really helping ourselves either).

TL;DR a lot more thought and effort (rightfully so)goes into scam reports than a simple one line infraction-worthy post so naturally it's going to take longer.

I understand that it's not a role that you get paid for & that it can take some time, but creeping up on almost over a month?

Some communication would also help from making the post as currently the motion is, make a scam report, get left in the dark..

I'm sure you can understand my frustration as I am literally seeing others get scammed by the same user, who is literally just mocking this forums for 'free' money, it seems you can easily scam members within Rune-Server and just completely get away with it for a long while.. The part that annoys me most though is just seeing other inocents being scammed for their cash all within a forums that I love

It's been three weeks to the day that you posted yours - yes this is longer than we'd like but unfortunately when we're all busy IRL then it's just how it goes. Scam reports are something that I often handle myself and it just so happens that I've had an extremely busy month - going forward I will be encouraging other moderators to handle some of the scam reports if there are times where I'm a bit too busy to pay as much attention as I'd like to the reports.

Respectfully I disagree - ultimately we always try and check scam reports ASAP to make sure the user has used the proper format and given us relevant information(this is to avoid delays). Other than that - there's not a whole lot you need to know. It may be surprising but people make false scam reports to try and get other users banned that they dislike, so if we tell people every single action we've taken (e.g. 'We have now contacted the person you're reporting' , 'We've now looked into the images you've provided') it may make this process easier(especially if someone were to gloat about our findings to the accused and cause them to just disappear altogether). We do, however, always update you as soon as we have something relevant for you to know - often this is when we've had confirmation from the accused that they'll be repaying you, often it may just be a simple 'This user has now been banned and will need to refund you in order to be unbanned'.

As with most justice systems, the rule is innocent until proven guilty. Ultimately, we cannot just ban people pre-emptively as soon as a report comes in. We have systems and procedures in place to try and prevent scamming and whilst these definitely are not perfect(I don't know of any forums that have a perfect anti-scam procedure), the onus is somewhat on the user to make sure they're being as safe as they can be.

Ultimately, if you're unsure about someone and they're asking you to trade with them using currencies that absolutely cannot be recovered(crypto, OSGP) then you really should be questioning whether it's worth the risk for you. This is in no way me victim blaming as I totally disagree with the notion of 'you got scammed it's your fault' - only the scammer is at fault in these scenarios however that doesn't mean users shouldn't be doing what they can to avoid scamming occurrences(as you mostly did with a forum PM - again, it's not perfect and by all means suggest ideas for how we can improve our scamming reduction methods).

I understand the time on your side being pressured, I wasn't aware of that factor asin I wasn't known to you guys not being paid for the work you do on the forums. Ofcourse it's easy for me to take the time factor out of the equation and not think that you guys might be busy, so I'm sorry for that assumption.

In my first report post, it wasn't in the correct format and was left there for a week with no reply atleast saying 'not in the right format' which I then adjusted to the correct format where you replied to confrim the case being looked at.

I understand it's almost impossible to provide an anti-scam community unless payments where made through the website as a type of middle man I suppose, which isn't feasible anyways.. But I believe I took proper precautions to enable the user to be banned in case he did scam, which he ended up doing. To be honest most of us here are adults I didn't really think people scammed much like that anymore so my bad for putting trust in humans lol, I also went of the vouches I saw for the particular user, so didn't think of being scammed in the first place but it's a whatever situation, would just like to see the person removed from the forums so they can't continue scamming others within this community.

the problem with reporting scammers here is you have to have done most of the transaction and talk through rune-server, which everybody relies on discord now. I even tried to post a scammer to the forums in the right place, but because there was not enough talk on rune-server messages to be claimed as a service picked up in rune-server, you can't post it. Which gives headway for scammers to continue what they want, you cant post it here nor on discord and there is no verification to it. no matter what, people will be scammed because there's no backing to it, nor ways to actually report it going on.

Its why on other sites like this when you are selling or buying a something, You need do a Private message on the site with Each other forum username. Discord ID, What you are selling/buying and more information. I think this what people on rune-server needs start doing to protect.
