    What are Nootropics?
Nootropics are also known as "Smart Drugs" they're a type of cognitive enhancement supplement that promotes an increase in cognitive performance. Like the movie Limitless, it works by signaling neurotransmitter pathways in the brain allowing the user to acquire a heightened sense in concentration, focus, and memory.

    How are they used?
There are many reasons people use Nootropics. For example, it could be anything from a student cramming to study for upcoming exams, or a CEO building up a company and just needing that extra focus and drive, or it could be something as simple as feeling like you lack the ability to focus on a task hardly being able to get stuff done.

    Types of Nootropics?
They come in a few different forms you have Natural Nootropics which compounds can be found in plants and get manufactured as brain supplements, or you have synthetic Nootropics which are synthesized in a lab and are commonly
    acquired by a doctor's prescription.

    Natural
    Caffeine
    Creatine
    Omega 3
    Ginkgo Biloba
    Andrographis Paniculata
    Panax Quinquefolius (Ginseng)
    Bacopa Monnieri
    Rhodiola Rosea
    Green Tea & L Theanine

    Synthetic
    Armodafinil
    Modafinil
    Citicoline
    Piracetam
    Ampakines
    Cerebrolysin
    Adderal

    How Safe are Synthetic Nootropics?
Even though it may seem like a magic pill that will give you the boost to get stuff done, the safety of synthetic Nootropics heavily depends on the person taking these supplements as they can have various negative effects for anybody if not taken correctly, that's why it's very important to be moderated by a medical professional while taking any supplements like this, some of these effects can range from restlessness, panic attacks, severe anxiety, chills, headaches, psychosis, paranoia, or much worse.

Have you ever taken a nootropic before describe your results below.

Most natural nootropic compounds can be found in the list above under (Natural) but if you really wanna get a synthetic form which you will feel the effects within minutes you'd need a prescription from a medical professional or go the other route of acquiring it cough cough

I’ve tried modafinil and in my opinion it’s awesome.

I've tried Adderall, Vyvanse, Modafinil, Armodafinil, Noopept, Phenibut, and some of the more useless meme ones. Phenibut was hell, see the big block of text under the second quote. I'm not convinced Noopept even does anything, tbh; neither the actual tablets I've gotten from pharmacies in Russia nor the nasal sprays have ever had a noticeable effect.

Modafinil/Armodafinil are both super useful, but I'm not convinced either really has a super significant or pronounced effect on your cognitive ability. They are, however, great at their intended purpose: keeping you awake. It's been a long time since I've had either, though, so it's hard to say how effective they were from an ADHD perspective.

Adderall and Vyvanse, though, I have prescriptions for. Adderall is super essential to my daily life — both for the intended purpose of treating ADHD, but also for some off-label benefits, like dealing with shift work sleep disorder and depression.

I don't think amphetamines are the answer to everything but they've helped a fair bit with my ADHD symptoms and have been significantly better for my depression than Wellbutrin or Zoloft ever were. Additionally, since I'm studying online from the United States (UTC-5) while my university is in Siberia (UTC+7), I have to maintain a really rough schedule of about 7 or 8 PM to noon. I absolutely wouldn't be able to make it through the dark hours without some sort of serious stimulant. It really fucks up your rhythm not seeing the sun until right before you sleep.

Personally, I think Vyvanse was probably a better fit for me than Adderall. But I was already on 60mg Vyvanse and the maximum official dose is 70, so there wasn't a lot of room. Plus Vyvanse has really long legs. If I didn't take it immediately first thing in the morning or if I woke up a bit too late, it could very easily keep me up muuuuuch longer than I would've liked.

Worth noting as well that no doctor is going to give you any helpful advice, other than don't do them, regarding most of these drugs. They are often research chemicals or, in the case of the US, things available Europe, etc that have yet to be reviewed by the FDA. In that sense, be careful what you get pushed online on forums and reddit, from both a health and legality standpoint.

As an example, I see Phenibut mentioned on Reddit often as some miracle nootropic cure-all for general anxiety, social anxiety, depression, etc. However, personally, having even had the real thing when I lived in Russia, I have never in my life come across something with more unpleasant side effects. Coming down from it was easily the worst case of rebound anxiety and depression I have ever experienced in my life. I was absolutely on the edge of killing myself during those 48 hours desperate for anything that would just. make. it. stop.

You have a lot of people online recommending foreign drugs with total disregard for them. Meanwhile in Russia, Phenibut, for example, is known to be habit forming, does have a serious risk for dependence, and is known to have pretty extreme side effects, especially in large doses. If you're going to play around with any of these drugs anyway, I cannot recommend Psychonaut enough: https://psychonautwiki.org/. Although not infallible, it provides dosage guidelines as well as known effects and interactions with other drugs.

I also often see research chemicals being pushed online because unscheduled drugs in the US exist in a bit of a legal grey area where, provided it's not "for human consumption", you're generally allowed to buy and sell them. What this has led to is a big market for designer drugs whereby somebody has created, more or less, an analog to an existing drug while not being 100% identical in structure. And although less likely to get you in trouble compared to straight up schedule I and schedule II drugs, for Americans, the Federal Analogue Act is a thing; drugs that are unscheduled yet "substantially similar" to a schedule I or schedule II drug will be treated as such. Popular "nootropic" RCs recommended on Reddit, like 2-FA, as alternatives to Adderall, being amphetamines, could easily be classified as "substantially" similar to amphetamine or methamphetamine, and with those being schedule II, could easily land you a serious charge. These sorts of cases have been seemingly becoming more and more common with the opioid crisis and the extreme popularity of the fentalogues.

Also, while the analogue act only applies to analogs of schedule I and schedule II drugs, I would still be very careful with analogs of drugs similar to less highly scheduled drugs - e.g., while ODSMT, a popular opioid RC, is unscheduled and probably most similar to Tramadol, a schedule IV, not schedule I/II drug, do you want to hope that a court will not determine it to be substantially similar to, say, codeine or morphine should a prosecutor try to argue it?

I'm currently at this time taking 200mg of Modafinil (Modalert), I've been taking it for about a week not daily but on a dosage of twice per week, but my question for you is while you were on Modafinil did you see any positive effects aside from being able to stay up long hours as I know that's what the drug was made for people with narcolepsy. I just wanna know if you could go more into depth on that specific nootropic for me thanks

Hard to say, sorry. Last time I took it was in 2017, I believe. I don't remember it having truly noticeable effects outside of its intended purposes. I was on a lower dose than you, though (100mg). A lot of other people believe it does have positive benefits in people who don't have ADHD or narcolepsy, but I wonder how much of that is due to going into it believing that it will have those benefits.

Little tip for Modafinil, Sleep well for the maximum effects, and on modafinil you also build up the tolerance fast so i'd take a break for 2-3 per week.

It did wonderful things for me, i've got ADHD and it's wild tbh, dosen't really stimulate you but make everything so much easier, basicly gets rid of being tired throughout the day, atleast for me, i've tried most of the drugs used for ADHD, and Modafinil worked best on me. Concerta + Moda is also a wild ride, adding in caffiene makes it work better aswell.
