Customs or no customs
Customs or no customs
(Poorly coded servers ran by developers who cant fix bugs in features calling it uniqueness) Uniqueness > Quality > Quantity
I don't think you should differentiate uniqueness and quality much.
When it comes down to uniqueness, you need to have quality in your unique content in order for it to go far and perform well. Every second server calls itself unique and what we find in it? Pickachus that bark when talking to them.
So, if you're going to be unique, better have quality.
Quality always over uniqueness, regardless of the content (to an extent).
-nobody is creative anymore with content, maybe some but not like the old days
-everyone uses the same name for their projects, even so similar.
-same stuff new server
-rsps owners aim to make profit rather focus on quality
e.g dreamscape investing into models that slow down their client
-some may have 'lots of features' but prob disabled or bugged in some circumstances
but in my opinion there are a few and I mean only a few out there that are ran by actually good devs/people, and you know who you are
now what would be cool to see is a mass open-sourced project that is linked to every programmer on this site. The most "stable" ps. Have the entire r-s user base work on it until its greatness, may be the most legendary rsps in the world. Maybe have it so you can select an option to load custom models that arent half assed, then have another to load normal for those who dig "customs"... you know? lol
my doubts this will happen but would be cool to see.
right now im mostly trying to learn open gl implement into a 317, right now i have a display manager with a tiny loop made, once done I will release so I hope it can help. Just wish more people worked on this type of stuff and popped this type of content out
Wouldn't people want to play something that's truely unique ?
Let's say we are comparing server A with server B .
Server A has fully working raids (for example ) , but it's the same old raid that mostly every server has. As well server A has fixed bugs in their raid to make it run smoother than than server B .
But on the other hand Server B tried something different and created a brand new raid that hasn't been seen before, it works but at times could be buggy
Wouldn't server B have more success? Because it would grab more attention to its unique raid and players would most likely try something new
Quality is not something you can advertise, it's something that has to be felt while playing it.
Uniqueness could be advertised ( not talking about Pikachu or re textures ) and would get more hits than a quality server .
Not saying quality isn't important , but it's not attention grabbing as uniqueness
custom don't necessarily means adding pikachus etc, it means not following the regular RS system - thus adding lets say the normal raids the same way osrs has it, but making major changes to it would then be considered custom and not unique, in my opinion atleast?
quality over quantity for sure but i'd argue that 'uniqueness' only goes for custom servers
