Hey y’all im looking for advice on how to get started with coding. Ive been a rsps player for 10 years now and id like to learn how to bring my experience to a server owning platform. Id like some opinions on what base to start with (preferably osrs), where to find client/sources, and any miscellaneous advice. Thanks boys.

Chris Juice#1189 Heres my discord if easier

You can find client/cache here. A lot of people use rsmod as an OSRS base. I am also working on an open source server that is easy for beginners which you can download here: https://github.com/guthix/OldScape-Server.

You should probably learn how to program first before starting to work on rsps. I recommend learning Java because it is what most people use to build their rsps. There are plenty of courses/books/tutorials online if you search for them.

If you're a noob there's a lot to learn and getting your first server started might be an upwards battle. If you're lucky the server and client will have bat files or some easy one click build system that will do everything for you. Even then you might have to manually set your java path. If there's no one click build system you are going to have to learn how to import projects with an ide. Some servers also have minor errors when running that might be overwhelming for a newcomer like exceptions being thrown because the cache folder is in the wrong place or a file the server needs wasn't found.

All I can really say is keep going you'll eventually get one to run and work - you can message me privately for help if you like actually.

There's an exactly 0% chance he understands those running instructions lmao, it started of nice and then progressed to 'decompile a client by yourself' not hard for a pro but might as well ask a noob to land on the moon

Decompiling is literally something you can do as a noob, via Java decompiler online it is as easy as uploading a file to dropbox.

Ye so you know Fernflower works but he has no idea which of those to pick and when you say it works I remember having to do something to reformat the characters because the strings were being funny.

    Cfr didn't decompile correctly iirc
