Taxes have increased in many countries, and the server is unlikely to earn so much.
Seems like more people are starting servers as well. I've been getting a lot more orders than before the pandemic.
My server definitely wasn't the best, but definitely better than imagine-v1, so you can talk when imagine v2 gets completed ;) Anyone can cram 2000 recolors on a server, and throw some money toward advertising so I don't wanna hear it lol.Quote:

Other people are pointing out more believable things swaying more towards rsps being negatively impacted by corona as far as revenue goes for rsps owners, so still would like to hear any facts about how this could be positive out of curiosity.
This is a great example of how this may have positively effected rsps services but rsps owners/hosts this would be more of a negative thing than positive. More servers = harder to gather a team, harder to keep up with the scene, players a lot of time just bounce from server to server, maybe more so in the custom scene. This obviously doesn't matter if your server has been around for a while like Zenyte, as you guys didn't have to struggle to build during a pandemic so you don't know what that's like.Quote:

Are they doing so well due to the corona or due to other reasons, the topic here is "has-covid-19-affected-revenue" I removed the RSPS part to fit this convo, but they are probably doing well because EVERYONE did well in 2019 it was one of the best years for revenue in most parts of the world. I'm wanting to see some facts of where someone is capitalizing from this virus, cause I simply don't find it possible.Quote:

Like you said though it all depends on where the money comes from if you got a bunch of wealthy people playing your video game then it isn't going to effect you much most likely, but still is not going to be positive what so ever. However most people get everyday middle class people playing their games so I see it not being good for revenue. So ya if your business model is simply for the rich then it doesn't matter too much, but we are talking video games and RSPS so that isn't the case.
In short this is the 3 scenarios facing RSPS.
1) Increase in the short term where people have an excess balance but will eventually level out as more people are unemployed.
2) No increase and spending has roughly stayed the same.
3) Decrease in spending.
It's partly going to come down to where the largest playerbase is for these players. Looking at America and the amount of people being unemployed is going to affect any server negatively if that's where the majority of their players are from. However, moving more to Europe, depending on the country you will likely see no change or increased spending depending on if certain countries are able to provide work from home such as the UK if companies can set it up and so forth.
Near the beginning of the time period where people started to stay home, I noticed some changes. Players were spending much more money than usual on donations and also player activity was at a high. However eventually, it leveled out and even started to decline. Some players occasionally still spend some money, but many are being careful with what they have. I'll often get asked about the price of an item and then have players go "nvm" after I tell them. It seems this pandemic is affecting RSPS revenue but not to the point where there is none or not enough to keep a server going.
I imagine advertising and micro-transaction based revenue streams are doing well, that's mostly what I meant; which I don't know for sure but I assume is how that game company I mentioned makes money.Quote:

At least that's what they are telling people.
Every job is hiring like crazy it seems due to people being off of work due to covid-19 related guidelines or the virus itself. Plus the fat unemployment definitely had to take it's toll on the industries employee's along with the stimulus checks, while some people may have came up off of this (the lower class people), average middle class people like myself are stuck in a bad spot where we loose money and the rich are losing the most money right now due to shut downs/etc. Anyways I'm done with this topic, just thought it was crazy that anyone would think this could positively impact anything for a server owner. I think it's awesome some people are doing well in the scene at a time like this but I wouldn't give the credit to the covid-19 without some facts other than numbers are up right now because you may hit a peak and then see it fall lower than ever before the next few months.Quote:
