So.. I've been wondering for the last 2 years what I witnessed that day, and I'm pretty sure you guys can give me some answers.

I used to work in peoples houses, and 1 of my customers 2 years ago showed me something very unusual (to me at least) after we started talking about gaming, etc'

    • He had at least 10-20 (what to me looked like Computer Modems) with fans attached to them, sitting on shelves in 1 room with all the windows open
    • Massive amounts of cables coming from these modems to another room
    • The room next to it had at least 8 computer modems/gaming style computers

All he told me was he was 'Bit Mining', and I Googled bit mining when I got home that day and couldn't understand jack sh*t about what 'bit mining' was.

I'm sure some of you can give me a better explanation of what I googled/saw.. I should have asked him more questions, but I was pretty busy that day and had to go.

He seemed pretty nervous showing me it all

Definitely BitCoin mining and making helluva lotta dough by the sounds of it, lol.

Servers have to remain at a cooled temperature, which explains why the windows were open to prevent fires/explosions. The guy probably were mining even when not at the computer (if that's possible).

Correct, it creates a lot of heat, put your computer in a room and run it full-bore without a proper cooling system. Now do it with 10+ Computers in 1 room. Either run an A/C unit or fan/open windows.

    Another reference on the matter:

Most definitely bitcoin mining. I have a good friend who runs his own server downstairs and it's specially made for bitcoin mining, while he doesn't make "alot" per week/month it's still money he didn't have. So at the end of the day, I would say it's worth it.
