Yep. he made more money running soulpslit for its unfortunately short lifetime than most people will ever make in their lives. He had a fucking office for soulsplit staff. He probably didn't live there, so he probably did drive there. It doesn't matter if he had to clock in or not. If I started something that made millions online, there's absolutely no doubt that I would put that on my CV.
And IIRC Soulsplit was in the same spot as TPB in terms of legality, the country it was hsoted in laws didnt say it was illegal.
2006scape
Expanding on 2006Scape:
This server had the potential to be the biggest private server in history. Their content was very sub-par, but with the hype it gathered, it could have been huge for a little while at least IF it had good content. Instead, thousands and thousands of people were ready to play a very underwhelming, lackluster, unstable generic remake that would soon get continuously attacked by Toil and other members of a malicious forum. Not long after it just randomly shut down due to copyright reasons. There was a lot of donation money involved.
ProjectRS06:
The next big server in the line of remakes. On launch had 1-2K players online (not sure if this was manipulated or not). Well eventually their database was acquired, people were being hacked left and right. There were also dupes in the game and before even a few months the server was gone. Danny from the aforementioned malicious forum even took over their website at one point.
Near-Reality OSS:
I would probably consider this server the successor over the previous remakes. It lasted a while, but eventually shut down due to copyright reasons. The forum stayed up for a while after though, and a player named "Defecate" posted a "Confessions" thread. Basically saying "Now that the server is gone anyway, everyone confess what you've done bad on the server". Dear god was it bad. Mods had been using exploits/dupes the entire time. Tons more I could touch on, there was thousands of replies to that thread and I was in awe reading it.
EDIT: Here is the confession thread https://web.archive.org/web/20130112...ns-thread.html
